Theatre reviewer and volunteer usher for the Royal & Derngate Northampton (and an Accounts Manager by day!)

Rushden, England
Genuinely appalled at @AlisonHammond and @radioleary treating this like a joke. After this weekend's riots in Manchester this is a serious issue. You work in the arts, if you can't support it, stay the hell away. Theatre isn't karaoke or a concert. Show some respect @thismorning
Should people be allowed to sing at theatres? 🎭 After one theatre in Manchester banned audiences from singing along, @VanessaOnAir has her say...

2022 gave me 144 performances (my 2nd-highest year ever, behind 2019's 189) 81 musicals (of which 30 were new), 28 plays, 12 comedians, 9 concerts, 8 pantos, 5 dance shows 1 awards show. 27 shows were paid for, 63 through reviewing, 54 through volunteering 😁

That leaves me on 889 shows to date.... February 2023 will see my 900th show, and I'm aiming for my 1000th before the end of the year, along with my 350th individual musical at some point... 😲😲😲😲

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ again from me for the Sister Act tour. You know a show is good when you review it twice within 5 weeks and enjoy it just as much the second time!
Replying to @MKTheatre
@MKTheatre 5* review for @sisteractsocial eastmidlandstheatre.com/2022… reviewer @angelus213 ‘Sister Act’ has never been particularly deep or profound. It isn’t trying to be.  It sets out to entertain & put smiles on faces, which it does with flying colours & an unashamed sense of fun.

Replying to @BelgradeTheatre
@BelgradeTheatre 3* review for Demon Dentist. eastmidlandstheatre.com/2022… reviewer @angelus213 Going to the dentist is scary enough, but what happens when your dentist isn’t really a dentist at all, but an evil witch who collects children’s teeth and uses them to decorate her lair?

Doesn't fully Commit as a musical but still entertaining with timeless tunes... ⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me for The Commitments at Milton Keynes
Replying to @MKTheatre
@MKTheatre 3* review for #TheCommitments eastmidlandstheatre.com/2022… reviewer @angelus213 ... an uplifting dose of nostalgia and a celebration of a catalogue of songs which will never age.  It’s not a musical, but taken as a play-turned-concert with a near-faultless soundtrack...

The Shawshank Redemption - good performances but not quite as powerfully involving as the film. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.
Replying to @CurveLeicester
@CurveLeicester 3* review #ShawshankRedemption eastmidlandstheatre.com/2022… @whatsoninleics @angelus213 strong across the board, with a likeable all-male cast giving believable portrayals of prisoners at various points in their journeys.  Absolom & Onwukwe make a winning leading pair

@LboroTownHall 4* review of #KInkyBoots by @ESNATheatre eastmidlandstheatre.com/2022… reviewer @angelus213 James Highton is a hugely likeable Charlie & leads the show well... an enviable voice which he uses brilliantly (some big notes in “Step One” & “Soul Of A Man”). A high-heeled hit
