Religion would die a quick death if people weren’t allowed to fill their kids’ heads with bullshit before they develop the ability to think critically.

Hopefully in the distant future, religion will die out because it's a mental virus that has taken hold and continues to take hold of many people. Unfortunately, the cynicism in me tells me the opposite.

I became religious by trying to prove Christianity false. Strip away the emotion, apply honest critical thinking, and go where it leads you.

By trying to prove it false are you starting with the proposition that it’s true? That’s how it sounds. If that’s the way you’re going about it then you should try harder lol 😉

You assume too much this is just a hypothetical my friend. Do you think I want to ban religious indoctrination? Is that what you got out of my post?

You assume that God doesn’t exist. How did you arrive at that conclusion??

I don’t believe a god or gods exist, I’m just not convinced by the evidence. I’m not assuming or concluding anything.

Unfortunately that won't be happening.... The people that designed religion already foresighted this. Proverbs 22:6... "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Indoctrinate them young, catch them young.

You’re probably right but what’s left but hope 😉 This verse sounds like the writers knew it’s all bullshit. Why do you need to “train up a child” if you’re educating them about something that’s true. They understood the power that indoctrination has over a young developing mind.

& you presumably haven’t read Frye’s Great Code? Or Richard King’s Orientalism & Religion? Wouldn’t using the term religion in a less than objective way indicate you don’t have a grasp of the term yourself? & why would familiarity with religion be a problem for critical thinking?

When I say religion I mean belief in a god or gods/supernatural. What do you mean familiarity with religion? I believe that without religious indoctrination we would see generations shift towards forming their beliefs based on evidence and not faith as believers do now.

No they wouldn’t, well maybe racism would because kids are indoctrinated with that shit too. My point is that the majority of adults wouldn’t be convinced by religious claims if they weren’t exposed to the concepts when their brain was still developing.

Are you going to tell others how to raise their children?

No but it seems that Christians want to since they’re pushing their religion into our public school system.
