I was born to sail. The sea teaches lessons that reach far beyond the horizon: respect the sea, trust your crew, adapt to changing conditions, and always keep your course, even when the winds shift.
Today, I’m excited to begin a new voyage as Chief Strategy Officer at @proxysql . Every journey begins with a change of course. Sometimes it means discovering new waters. Sometimes it means sailing familiar seas with a new crew. This is one of those voyages.
I’ve spent more than three decades navigating the world of open source databases, infrastructure, high availability, and the incredible communities that have shaped our industry. The waters are familiar, but the opportunities ahead are anything but.
I’m looking forward to helping chart the next course for ProxySQL, working alongside an exceptional team, and continuing to contribute to the open source ecosystem that has given me so much throughout my career.

The next SELECT returns no booking.
Nothing was necessarily lost. The read may have reached a replica before the write was applied.
This is the kind of problem we’ll unpack in my Nerdearla session tomorrow.
For a dependent read, “this is a replica” is not enough information. We need to know which write the read depends on, and whether that backend has applied it.
I’ll show the MySQL GTID flow in @proxysql : capture the write dependency, observe each backend’s progress, then select an eligible destination. We’ll also discuss the planned direction for PostgreSQL causal reads.
