Back when LAN meetups were apparent due to 'lack of technology, i.e. Internet', fighting game meetups weren't really a thing because we also had #arcades back then. Later when we became slaves of the internet, #fgc meetups were a place where you can have fun with friends or check your power level in fighting games. But what makes people keep coming back? Even if it was a tournament, there's only 1 winner who's the most happiest of the bunch, but the rest of the contestants would be part of the salty crew. Despite losing, there were special places where people kept coming back, you see the community grow and the interest in fighting games continued to thrive.
