Finished playing the demo of Among The Waves, and I really liked it!
Gameplay is good. The story and theme is very different and interesting. The gameplay mechanics fit the theme very well. Controls and the mechanics overall do take some time getting used to because of their uniqueness, but that's not a negative. If anything, the whole game is a nice breath of fresh air considering how samey a lot of the Metroidvania games feel/play.
Very much looking forward to playing the full game at release, and would highly recommend anyone who enjoys Metroidvania games and are looking for something different to try the demo out!

The free Among the Waves demo will be available on Steam after 20:00 UTC on November 3, 2026.
New York: after 3:00 PM on November 3
Moscow: after 11:00 PM on November 3
Beijing: after 4:00 AM on November 4
A single playthrough takes approximately 3β5 hours. The demo includes 20 locations, several story characters, different types of ground and flying enemies, two bosses, and two different endings.
