Great creators do more than collect assist, they bend the defense. Box Creation estimates teammate open looks from passing, scoring pressure and shooting. This chart compares that estimate to raw assist volume, per 100 possessions.

**Play Finder Update** - Matchups filtering so you can quickly view a players defense, or specific offense/defense matchups. S/O @GabeLeftBrain for the backend help make sure you give his account and site a follow! Got tired of trying to edit videos so im just showing you how to use it 😂
**BIG UPDATE** - Play Finder Can now view highlights of various players directly on the site by various box score stats, shot types, and shot zones etc. Video is pretty self explanatory for a lot of the use cases but few things i want to call out: - Can filter tape by specific opponents - Press "select clips" to add multiple clips to a playlist at once - To see a players buckets assisted by a specific person: Go into shot detail, select "assisted" and a dropdown will open - Film goes to 2014-15 season Feel free to ask any other questions, bit of an experiment at the moment but theres a feedback button in the top right to do just that Link below

wait this is from that graphic comparing dpoy candidates right? Angel would (and will imo) be a very deserving DPOY so all those raw on/offs with zero context are fair game but rim protection numbers being seen as useless and some weird hate agenda? nah that’s insane man

This is from 2 weeks ago, but she’s only played one game since. What jumps off the page to you? Almost across the board her impact is less from last year and she didn’t win. Her offense has jumped quite a bit, but defensively it hasn’t been the same

basically just should be replacing all the raw on/offs with their "dX" variants from databall, can keep steals and blocks ig, and maybe adding some dfg%/tov% vs expected on certain plays too and then you got a SOLID defensive statistical profile.

the seven games separating the lynx and liberty is the smallest gap between the 1 and 8 seeds since the wnba changed the playoff format in 2016

The WNBA regular season is over, and the playoff matchups are set! So, how did every team stack up across different play contexts? The Fever and the Valkyries were the league's best offensive and defensive half-court teams, respectively.

Not only did the Golden State Valkyries lead the WNBA in defensive rating (99.1), they, relative to league average (~9.6 points stingier), just put together the greatest defensive season in league history. Cannot stress to you how ridiculous that it.
