I sure am glad to have finished Control Resonant because the sheer amount of untagged spoilers has me wishing people used discord to unload their post game hype.
Someone somewhere is cursing agentic code and genAI "references" for giving them so much shit to clean up because some presenter at Nintendo/Capcom/Amazon/insertnamehere was like "this will totally not replace humans at all". Congrats you just overscoped an overscoped project.
Clipping and animation sync issues were common a while back and saved for cinematics. Still kind of is given player cosmetics and all (moreso with varied height/body). Remedy could probably do it but likely haven't dug into it for budget/tech reasons.
I tried to make him not look like a wet cat and now he just looks like a sad school teacher.
Maybe just throw him a vintage baseball cap, a trench coat, a scarf and or a nice bag and he can look like a Ralph Lauren/Aime Leon Dore model.
Re criticism of enemy variety in Control Resonant, if Dylan gets powers every time he defeats a resonant, maybe the enemies should get a new mechanic/behaviour to keep players on their toes. If it's too expensive to add a bigger enemy roster, that is.
Remedy using video footage in new ways is making me inspired and a little mad because of how damn creative it is - even if they used similar techniques in Alan Wake 2. It's very much like watching a well executed magic trick.
Control Resonant has mirrors in their game, like actual mirrors you can walk around and see yourself, but they definitely saved the good looking reflections for the fast travel door and not the teeny ones in the apartments lol. Mirrors/reflections are still expensive in AAA hahah
Technically I shouldn't say "reflections" but there is a camera rendering the area where the player is facing the mirror. If it faced the other way the draw calls would just be utterly stupid and nothing would run. And we believe it because the game tells us "it has weird shit".
It's amazing how no one reads follow up posts in a thread and just comments on the first post as if no one amends or adds anything to their initial statement.
Tfw a map in Control Resonant so good it becomes a set piece.
For more examples of maps being set pieces, see Dishonored 2's Clockwork Mansion or A Crack in the Slab.
Something I noticed when I speak to Emily Pope is her leg twitches a little during dialogue scenes. Might be an animation IK thing because there's something on the ground [doubt], but I imagine she has a nervous tick that shows up in her feet while the rest of her is pristine.
I have a couple ideas why PVRIS' Oil and Water didn't get selected in Arcane S2. Cait or Vi wasn't in the headspace vis a vis the lyrics. It'd be a great upbeat montage track for recovery arc Vi. But it was also tone of the song. Nothing rearrangement can't fix, it's really good.
- which kinda bugs me that Pvris wasn't given a shot to rework it for S2 somehow or make a brand new one. Then I remembered what EJAE went through on KPDH how all the songs had to be as "final" as possible even in demo form and and it was deeply relatable.
