AZTEC FOOTBALL GAME DAY🔴⚫
Tonight, the 1-3 San Diego State Aztecs will do battle with the 2-2 Texas State Bobcats in their first PAC-12 conference game and their first-ever matchup.
The Bobcats started their season with a lopsided 59-7 loss to the No. 1 Texas Longhorns, then narrowly lost 31-26 to UT-San Antonio, before bouncing back with a 49-35 win over North Texas and a dominant 63-10 victory over FCS Incarnate Word. Against FBS opponents, the Bobcats are averaging 27.3 points per game this season, and they are sixth in the nation in total rushing yards with 1,125.
The Aztecs football program finds itself at a low point. After an expected 53-20 win in Week 1 over FCS Portland State, the Aztecs have lost all three FBS games this season. They are currently on a five-game losing streak to FBS opponents going into last season, with their last win occurring on November 22nd, 2025, 315 days ago, to be exact. The Aztecs' offense has scored a combined 39 points against FBS opponents this season, averaging an abysmal 13 points per game. To make matters worse, the team is dealing with injuries to key players and confirmed cases of mumps, meaning tonight will be an uphill climb and a next-man-up mentality for the men in black and red to win and get their season on track.
