There is another side of the story here.
That they are also potentially covering up for themselves.
It should be recalled that Allan Peter Cayetanoβs wife and Taguig City Mayor, Lani Cayetano was also a recipient of the P150 million purportedly originating from the Chinese Embassy. Such money from foreign entities/ governments is highly controversial in view of its security implications. Lani Cayetano is a high profile officer of the Tapang at Malasakit alliance.
Allan Peter was himself a highly entrenched Duterte ally and has defended its corrupt ways locally and abroad. He became Speaker of the House of Representatives and DFA Secretary.
Pia herself has benefited from the graces of the former President. Apart from having become the Ways and Means Committee chairman, she also became the Blue Ribbon Committee Chair. She eventually authored the POGO industry law that became the source of all illegalities and entry of illegal aliens into the country.
Both siblings are under scrutiny for the flood control fund scam and separately for the anomalies involving the 2019 SEA Games fund.
The Cayetano siblings could easily be construed as part of the corrupt network of Duterte and have now extended their support to the accused Vice President.
