1/ It all started with a group of friends, @33_labs, @SuuriKat, @bz_bbclub, who shared a passion for gaming and blockchain technology. We wanted to build something unique that would showcase the power and potential of onchain gaming.

2/ After brainstorming ideas, we decided to create an auto-battler game that would be fully onchain. We wanted to push the limits of what was possible on Flow blockchain, a high-performance, scalable, blockchain designed for gaming and entertainment.

3/ We called our game Wonder Arena, and it was an extension of the Basic Beasts collection. Wonder Arena took the concept of collecting beasts to the next level by creating an interactive gaming experience where players could battle their beasts against each other.

4/ But building an onchain game on Flow was not without its challenges. We knew we had to think critically about the computation limits when running a battle simulation onchain. Simple enough for it to work, yet nuanced enough for an event to have different exciting outcomes.

5/ To make the game accessible to both mainstream and web3-native audiences, we decided to implement hybrid custody. This ensures that our walletless solution would not exclude web3-natives, while also providing a more user-friendly way for users to interact with the blockchain.

6/ But we didn't stop there. To elevate the user experience even further we integrated Stripe into our game, allowing for payments and subscriptions without the need for users to hold any cryptocurrency when buying beasts.

9/ Here's a fun fact: When creating BB back in 2021, we left no stone unturned. We researched every possible avenue and even read the CryptoKitties contract to ensure that we could create the most engaging collectibles gaming experience with beast breeding and evolution on Flow.
