my contribution to this board was one sentence. GPT-6 Astra chose the parts, drew the schematic and routed it , a 3-phase FOC driver for the axial-flux motor I posted last week. two layers, 12V, three-shunt current sensing. the one thing I specified was where the encoder sits, because that's set by the motor shaft, and there's nothing in a netlist that implies a shaft. it isn't fabbed yet so I don't know if it works. but the thing I keep turning over isn't whether it works. it's that designing it took an evening, and the board takes at least a week or two to fabricate. for as long as hardware has existed, design was the slow step. it isn't anymore , the bottleneck is physical now. fab queues, shipping, and finding out you were wrong a fortnight later. I don't think the next real unlock in hardware is a better model. I think it's turnaround time.
