Great memory of Hidden Figures is when I taught in a middle school in Butte, MT the principal was this boomer lib mongomaxxer who insisted on making everything about race despite our 99% Caucasian student population. And we had a beautiful old theater in that school and for the Christmas celebration made us all gather to watch HIDDEN FIGURES. The 12-13 year olds were bored to tears and 2/3 of the way through the movie they realized they could start sarcastically applauding and cheering as a way to pass the time. So there's a scene when one of the ladies gets proposed to. Everyone breaks out into applause, whooping and cheering like we'd just won the freaking Superbowl. Another scene where a guy crashes a plane. Thunderous applause, cheers. A lady gets racially discriminated against in the bathroom. "WOO-HOO!!! YEAH!! YOU GO GIRL!" I was lol'ing in the balcony. Those little scamps.
