Personal update: today my time at @OilersNation comes to an end. Was my choice and it was very tough. I owe a lot to @zjlaing and @jsbmbaggedmilk who gave me a chance and guided me along the way. The people at ON are passionate about their craft and I’ll miss that.

The quandary with this description of Dach is that you don’t want a C doing a bunch of what he’s seeing routinely. That’s a W role.
If that’s the messaging I think the ask is too high and potentially quite confusing. Dach’s success the other night was a combo of reasons.

2. His wingers crushed it on the forecheck. These are NHL wingers so no surprise at all.
3. His wingers played a strong DZ wall game.
4. This allowed Dach to played low in DZ and hit guys with abandon to separate them from pucks.

One thing I would be cautious about is evaluating a player absent context. Ike Howard is not a play driver. Ideally he’s a “catch and shoot” player using basketball parlance. He can get a puck. Give it up. Get to a spot. Get it back. Shoot it. He’s the finisher.
