Our team at @BrainPark@ProfYucel@lucyalbertella recently completed the Cognitive Fitness Delphi Project identifying 10 cognitive processes that underpin performance under pressure.β‘οΈThe next project phase is to consider how to build a measurement toolkit for these processes.
This phase is focused on working with stakeholders to inform the development of a toolkit that is fit-for-purpose β . Following this, we will create a multi-dimensional measurement tool and conduct a series of validation studies. Stay tuned for more info π€
I am asking a graduate student to read ten papers on emotion regulation to start getting a handle on the literature. Which are *must* reads, in your opinion? Obviously Gross (1998) and the update in (2015). What else?
Something to reflect on today...
We live in a research culture where overwork is accepted as a status symbol and productivity is associated with self-worth
You are not = papers, grants, awards etc
At the end of your life, do you really think these will matter?

What it takes to sustain performance under pressure across many occupations, from firefighters and paramedics to sport, performing arts and the military, remains an art β but science is rapidly catching up. @ProfYucel@lucyalbertella 1/6
So what? This neuroscience informed expert consensus will inform a range of high-performance applications, from measuring cognitive fitness, to training & protecting it from performance-degrading effects of stress, fatigue & distraction. The next study is underway! 6/6
Excited to have our paper published! Very proud of this work and the huge team of collaborators who made it happen. This is a very exciting space! doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2022.1β¦
What does it takes to sustain high-performance under pressure (in first-responders, elite sports, performing arts and the military)? Over 60 world experts joined forces to find the answer. Turns out there are 10 psychological factors: doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2022.1β¦@BrainPark@MonashUni
A whirl wind of a week attending the Defence Human Sciences and Human Performance network symposium! I learnt so much and spent it all with the best supervisors @ProfYucel@lucyalbertella and great colleagues π€ #DefenceScience#DHSS
Proud to be named a Highly Cited Researcher 2022. Only 0.1% (or 1 in 1000) of all researchers earn this distinction. No doubt this is a latent effect of amazing individuals and teams I have had the privelage to work with. #HighlyCited2022@ClarivateAG@BrainPark@MonashUni
After 3 yearsβ¦ we finally had our much anticipated #BrainPark Retreat! π§ π
The theme was to reflect on our journey, connect with each other, and celebrate our achievements as a lab.
Special guest speakers, panel discussions, an ultra-competitive BP Olympics.. what a time! π―
Happy #WorldMentalHealthDay! π§ Here at #BrainPark, we are huge advocates for #exercise as one of the best ways to boost your mental health. Based on insights into behavioural research and years of practical experience, hereβs our top tips for getting active! ππ»ββοΈπͺπΌ
Strong emotions can help to explain behavior, but they don't excuse misbehavior.
You can't always control what you feel. You do get to decide whether, when, and how you express it.
A mark of emotional intelligence is being thoughtful about the impact of your moods on others.
