Good. I’m glad to see the Supreme Court affirming that voters should pick their representatives, not the other way around.

Democracy is LITERALLY on the ballot in November. Missouri, let’s get to work and show up in record numbers!

It was an honor to celebrate the great state of Missouri as part of the @CBCFInc #ALC55 last week. I saw many old friends, and met some brilliant and talented folks. We toasted Rev. Emanuel Cleaver — a mentor, a friend, and a true champion for his constituents and for our state — who withstood Jeff City Republicans' unconstitutional gerrymandered maps, and will continue to represent Missouri's Fifth District. We thanked former Rep. Lacy Clay for his lifetime of service to St. Louis and to the Congressional Black Caucus. And we heard from the next Speaker of the House Hakeem Jeffries, who has united and led our Democratic caucus to fight back against the worst president in our country's history.

The American people are fed up with Donald Trump driving our economy off a cliff. In November, we're going to put Democrats back in charge and begin to clean up his mess.

Great discussion at yesterday's #ALC55 panel on reimagining public safety and tackling criminal justice reform. As a former prosecutor and now in Congress, I know that real public safety means addressing the root causes of crime through evidence-based diversion, addiction and mental health treatment. It also means investing in community-partnered violence reduction rather than over-incarceration. I have said from the start that the map drawn in a back room in Jeff City, for the sole purpose of handing Donald Trump a seat he could not win, was unconstitutional. More than 300,000 Missourians signed their names to say the same thing. The courts have now agreed. Missouri will vote in November under the lines that were lawfully in place, and Missourians get the final say on whether that back room map ever takes effect at all. I am asking every voter in this state to reject it. Understand what the gerrymandered map was built to do. They drew it to erase Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, an institution and a mentor, a man who has represented Kansas City for two decades, because they could not beat him at the ballot box. It carved roughly 70,000 minority residents out of his district and used Troost Avenue, a street that has stood for segregation in Kansas City for a century, as the dividing line. In my district, it also watered down the voice of the St. Louisans who live here. I spent years as a prosecutor. I know what it looks like when someone decides the law applies to everyone but them. They may have given it everything they had, but Missourians refused to let it stand. Voters pick their representatives. Not the other way around. Anyone who wants to serve the public would be wise to remember that.

I'm looking forward to hosting an informative conversation this week on how we can reimagine public safety, as it relates to mental health and addiction. Each of our panelists brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in tackling hard issues, especially at the local level.

Gas is $3.99 a gallon in St. Louis. Diesel is $5.69. A year ago it was $3.40. People in my district are keenly aware of these skyhigh prices. Every day, folks are buying less food at the grocery store. They’re putting $20 in the tank instead of filling it, and doing the math on whether they can afford to drive to a second job. And Donald Trump’s answer, from a convention that’s designed to cater to his ego, is that he will hand every adult in America $5,000 if Republicans keep Congress in November. Let’s be absolutely clear: The president cannot write a single one of those checks. Not one. And he knows this. Appropriating taxpayer funds is Congress’s responsibility, and even politicians from Trump’s own party immediately distanced themselves from his assertion. Folks, we have seen this movie before. DOGE checks. Two thousand dollar tariff checks. Trump had no intention of making good on this promises, and he won’t make good on this one, either. Shame on him.

That's a lot of words to say that you hate democracy! Here’s a TRUTH for you, Mr. President: Despite your best efforts, Missouri’s voters won’t be silenced.

Today’s ruling affirms what we've been saying all along: voters should pick their representatives, not the other way around. Now, Missourians will finally get to have their say at the ballot in November on rejecting these partisan and unconstitutional maps. I'm proud of all of the folks who organized, called and lobbied their elected officials, and made their voices heard. In a democracy, we're supposed to trust the people to self-govern. Jeff City Republicans might want to take their cue from the people they allege to represent.

This isn't merely about politics, for me, my friend is gone. In addition to being a transformative public servant, a loving husband, Reggie Jones was a good person who will be missed by not only myself, but the residents of Dellwood and the greater St. Louis County region. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family. We lost a good one. May his legacy and memory always be a blessing.

Donald Trump and his cronies have rigged the system to line their own pockets while making everything more expensive for the rest of us. With Hakeem Jeffries as speaker, the American people will finally have the leadership that is needed to fully uncover the massive corruption of this administration. That’s what’s at stake in November. It’s time to put Democrats back in charge.

This is about whether we are a government for the people, or a government 'despite' the people.  Voters should pick their representatives, not the other way around. Missourians — and Americans — agree. It's time that those in power in Jefferson City listen.

The American people deserve a president who will fight just as hard to expand access to healthcare and lower costs for working families, as this president does strong-arming the Supreme Court to approve his vanity ballroom.

This is Jayce. We met when I helped him pick out school supplies at a back-to-school event. He’s a very smart kid with a bright future. On Tuesday, as I was meeting voters outside polling locations across the district -- take a guess who I just happened to run into?? Jayce! It was great catching up with him and his mom. He said he voted for me. I absolutely believe him 😂

Congratulations to Congressman @WesleyBell4MO on your decisive primary victory tonight. Wesley will always put the wonderful people of St. Louis first. Together we will fight for an affordable America, push back against the Trump agenda and hold the crooks accountable!

I am honored and grateful that the people of Missouri's First Congressional District have continued to put their trust in me to represent them in Congress. Two years ago, St. Louis voted for better and more accountable representation. We have kept that promise, whether it's bringing federal resources home to our neighborhoods, standing with working folks when they needed someone in their corner, or helping families cut through red tape. That work does not stop tonight. St. Louis is up against a president that is coming after our healthcare, our due process, and the paychecks of working families. These are neighbors losing coverage, families watching grocery bills climb, and people picked off our streets without so much as a semblance of due process and basic fairness. I will keep standing up to this reckless and cruel administration every single day. The St. Louis region is a sleeping giant that is poised to become a major metropolitan area once again, a destination for families to live, work, and start a business. Waking the sleeping giant takes all of us, and it takes representation in Washington that treats this region like the priority it is. I am ready and excited to continue doing the work. I am convinced the St. Louis region has not seen its best days.
