There are no words that can truly capture how the world has changed for Jewish people since October 7th. And there is nothing I can say today that hasn't already been said, more powerfully, by others. So I'll just share one of the many moments from that day, and the days that followed, that I will never forget. On the morning of October 7th, I was in synagogue when the news began to reach us. My brother lives in Israel - and we knew he was in the Gaza Envelope in the south, celebrating the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah with friends from the area. But even as the news came in of what was happening there, it never crossed our minds that he might be in danger. A few hours later, when we had returned home from synagogue, still hearing rumours of what was happening, a phone rang in our home. We are religious Jews. On Shabbat and festivals, we don't use our phones. But my great-grandmother, Lily, a survivor of Auschwitz, was unwell, and the hospital had asked my mother to keep hers switched on. My brother knew that. He was calling under instruction from the community's rabbi. He told us that terrorists had surrounded the area. Only a handful of local residents were armed, standing between the community and dozens of heavily armed terrorists. No one knew what would happen next, or whether Hamas would manage to break in and murder them. He was, in essence, calling to say goodbye. My sister took the phone and told him she was pregnant. None of us knew. She told him then because we didn't know if we would ever get the chance to speak to him again. Then the call ended. And we carried on with Shabbat and Simchat Torah, not knowing what would happen where my brother was. Knowing that some of his friends, who had gone outside the gates to see what was happening, had been shot at. Some of them were murdered. We didn't hear from him again until the next day. I have never shared this before. Because our story ended with another phone call, the next day. So many families' stories ended so differently. You will struggle to find a single Jewish person who doesn't have a friend, a friend of a friend, or a family member who was affected that day. Three years on, I think about that phone call often. About what it means to call your family knowing that, on the road outside, there are terrorists trying to get into your community to murder, rape, pillage and destroy as much as they possibly can. And about what these three years have meant for Jewish people and Israelis everywhere. We will never forget. We could not, even if we tried. The trauma of that day runs too deep, through almost every Jewish family around the world.

Several years ago I met Andrew Tate. I called him a rapist to his face. All those who were willing to welcome in this blatant pervert and thug - like JD Vance and Farage - just because he was widely followed in a corner of the internet need a serious reckoning.
Andrew Tate took part in a sexualised video with a child, UK prosecutors have claimed. He is accused of creating or sharing several indecent images of a child, including dozens of ā€œCategory Aā€ videos – the highest risk level. šŸ”—:telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

I visited the site of the Nova music festival with a survivor of Oct 7th. She wanted to tell the world the horrors of that day, but had to be medicated to cope with it. It was one of the most painful things I have seen. We must not forget the horrors of Oct 7th. And we must not let anything like it happen again.

Zionism is both historic and spiritual; the ancient connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel and their right to self-determination in their historic homeland. I am British by birth, belonging and love; Jewish by inheritance, memory and faith. Britain is my country. Israel is not a competing loyalty, it is the homeland of the Jewish people to which I am bound by ancestry, memory and identity. For millions of Jews, that is the heart of Zionism. Not supremacy, dispossession or the killing of Palestinians and not a colonial claim to a foreign land but the self-determination of a people with an ancient and continuous connection to it. In practice, it must mean two peoples entitled to self-determination both living in security and freedom with neither people’s future purchased with the lives, rights or humanity of the other. That is why declaring ā€œZionism is racismā€ is not merely wrong, it tells most Jews that their understanding of their own history, identity and collective freedom is itself morally suspect. The Greens should ask themselves whom they are trying to please by adopting a slogan that turns Jewish self-determination into a moral stain. If your politics of inclusion requires millions of Jews to renounce a central part of their history and identity before they qualify for your solidarity, it isn’t inclusion. You are telling Jews: you may belong here but only if you disown Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. That is not anti-racism. It is imposing a political test on Jews that no genuinely progressive movement would dream of imposing on any other minority.

Jewish Greens in tears as their party - one many of them have been members of for decades - votes against protecting their right to attend synagogue
Amendment 3 on Jewish safety, clarifying that members will not be targeted for attending Zionist synagogues, has fallen 648 to 1026. Not even close - some Jewish greens expected to leave the party now

Amichai Chikli’s remarks about the Home Secretary are offensive, racist and wholly inappropriate. Shabana Mahmood has been a steadfast supporter of Britain’s Jewish community and has taken decisive action to confront antisemitism and Iran by designating the IRGC. She deserves respect, not inflammatory personal attacks.
When people speak of the political takeover of a country by Islamism, they imagine bearded sheikhs in robes. In reality, political Islam often looks exactly like this: Oxford English, fashionable clothes and progressive rhetoric. That is true of the Islamist @NYCMayor Mamdani and it is equally true of the Islamist @ShabanaMahmood. I sincerely hope, for the sake of the British people, that the lunatic BDS activists who have taken over their country do not drag Britain into an abyss from which there is no way back.

A pathetic, juvenile stunt by the Irish team: refusing to shake hands with Israeli players. This wasn’t a protest against a government; it was a deliberate snub of sportsmen because they are Israeli. Antisemitism dressed up as politics. bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

Wanting to know what Ed Sheeran thinks of the West Bank is ridiculous. It makes no difference. What next? Demanding Leona Lewis’s view of Pip cuts? Boycotting Maroon 5 until they make clear their stance on the environmental impact of HS2? We’ve lost our collective minds.

People like Francesca Albanese don't actually care about human rights. They just reflexively hate the West.
