Truth isn't good or bad. It just is. Truth doesn't change based on the rank of the recipient. If you can't state the evidence that would change your mind, you don't care about truth. Love your neighbor; no caveats. Goodness breeds goodness. Travel is fatal to bigotry & prejudice.

I think the best thing about this is not the 80k people in the Stade de France singing the Salve Regina. It's that they're almost all young. All of them. May this be the seed of renewal in France.

How much does anyone think men are willing to pay for this haircut? How many of those haircuts a day must that barber offer to even pay his lease and utilities, let alone support a family? Expectations of what is reasonable for you and for others is really out of whack today.

Literally you just said that. I suppose the thousands of priests and nuns killed by Soviets don't count. Or the Nuns hauled out of their convent during the Terror. Or priests imprisoned and killed in China or Nicaragua. No. Lies, I'm sure.

There is some associational stink that no amount of soap can wash off you. Be careful. Yes, love your neighbor and offer others the benefit of rhe doubt. But never, ever, sell your soul for likes or hitch your wagon to someone you'll regret down the road.

Your periodic reminder that if you're wondering what people are thinking about you, they're not. Nobody cares. (yes, some of you care but so few as to be statistically nobody) Love your family. Go outside. Make a friend. Write someone a letter, by hand, in ink. Name a tree.

This is why the internet still exists.

It very much could happen

When Roland Fryer sought to improve 20 struggling Houston schools, he implemented five practices: more instructional time, high-dosage tutoring, frequent teacher feedback, data-driven instruction and a culture of high expectations. The results were extraordinary. In math, elementary students gained four additional months of learning each year; secondary students gained nearly eight months in a nine-month school year. Every graduating senior in the high schools was admitted to a two- or four-year college. I kept hearing that Pope Leo XIV was “far left,” and for a while I assumed there must be some truth to it. Then I started actually listening to him. Not clips. Not political commentary. Not somebody telling me what I was supposed to think about him. His speeches. His words. His teaching. And I have completely changed my opinion of him. On immigration, he has acknowledged that a country has the right to control its borders. But he does not stop there. He has also told immigrants that entering another country comes with responsibilities. Learn the language. Respect the laws. Learn the customs. Participate in the life of the community. That struck me because it is neither “open borders” nor a rejection of the immigrant. It is order and responsibility alongside human dignity. Then there is abortion. Pope Leo has been absolutely clear that the right to life begins at conception and continues until natural death. In his encyclical, he specifically named induced abortion and euthanasia among choices the Church considers gravely wrong. And now, as he prepares to go to France, where abortion has been placed in the constitution and assisted dying has advanced into law, the central theme of his visit is essentially a defense of human life: “That the world may have life.” (AP News) Then listen to what he tells young people. Stop being afraid of commitment. Stop being afraid of your vocation. Stop being afraid of marriage. When speaking to hundreds of thousands of young people in Spain, he congratulated couples preparing for marriage and told them plainly: “You don’t have to be afraid to get married and start a family.” In a culture constantly telling young adults to delay marriage, delay children, chase themselves first and keep every option open forever, hearing the Pope tell young people that marriage and family are something beautiful enough to embrace instead of fear hit me hard. (National Catholic Register) The more I listen to Pope Leo, the more ridiculous our political labels start to look. Borders matter. Laws matter. The unborn matter. Migrants matter. Marriage matters. Families matter. Human dignity matters. None of those things cancel the others out. That is Catholicism. I thought I had Pope Leo figured out before I really listened to him. I was wrong. And honestly, the more I hear from him, the more I love this Pope.

It's far from a personal flaw, but people that can imagine pretty interesting things themselves can't imagine others doing interesting tho G's with a technology that they wouldn't have considered.
