每一件都是中国人三千年帝皇统治从未想过之事，因为麦督的政策，每一件，都把香港市民当做“人”，而不是奴隶和牲畜。
而且麦理浩是苏格兰人，私下政治倾向工党，是一个古典社会主义者——亦即十九世纪欧洲的社会民主（Social Democracy）这一系，英国前首相麦当劳和艾德礼这一支，其时西方的自由左派，尚未如今日肝硬化成左胶，是二十世纪西方文明最美好而健康的时期。
一水之隔的大陆，自称社会主义，搞了几十年，在麦理浩领导香港的同期，大量浮尸由珠江口冲下。麦理浩的社会主义政策，除了组织照顾房屋和医疗，毛泽东时代有，邓小平又改了回去，到了今日，不三不四，一样也无。
但麦理浩只是英国公务员队伍的一名文官。在英国历史上并无位置。一个三等的英国公务员，击败了中华民族七十年来夸夸而谈的前后三大喧噪：

2，一九四九年中国的社会主义制度。麦理浩向你证明：何谓真正的社会主义，社会主义不必由饿死三千万人、文革、以及大量冲来香港海域的浮尸来证明。麦理浩香港三千日，给你示范。
3，香港主权移交后任何一个嘴巴里声称他自己管治香港也行的香港特首。
至于海底隧道，也在麦理浩时代落成。这些只是硬件，与人性和心灵无关，仅小儿科而已。
让事实来说话。无人恋殖，只有崇优，包括在文化人类学的层次。
而麦理浩在香港，没有留下一具铜像。,他只在香港的绿水青山之间，留下了一条麦理浩径。
