Dope!
Track movement on bitmap? No database? Never 🙄 👇
We just shipped a fully decentralised activity bar for Bitmap. No database, no auth, no servers,
just sockets, smart state, and pure Bitcoin topology.
Here’s how it works:
Every user who connects to our app via WebRTC is assigned a unique ephemeral session ID. This happens instantly, no login, no wallet connect 🤯 just a session key tied to their local state.
As users move through bitmap districts and parcels (e.g. 0.9.bitmap, 9.bitmap), we track which location they’re in based on their real-time position in the Bitmap coordinate system. Each parcel is a logical room.
When a user enters or leaves a district or a parcel, a simple socket event updates the active user count for that district/parcel. These movements are entirely peer-to-peer, no centralized API call, no backend storage.
We built a lightweight presence tracker that listens to these movements across all parcels. Then, we surface the top 3 most active parcels in real-time 🔥 a live activity bar that updates as people explore.
No data stored. No footprint left behind. Just presence, awareness, and movement, routed by Bitcoin’s topology.
This creates an ambient social layer for Bitmap. You’re not just seeing static coordinates anymore,
you’re seeing life.
Movement.
Hotspots.
People.
All powered by WebRTC, socket, ephemeral IDs, and the spatial logic of the Bitmap protocol.
The result? A real-time map of where people are right now and a foundation for organic discovery, conversation, and collaboration in the metaverse.
This is just one of many tools we’re building to bring social to the Bitmap layer, native, sovereign, and permission-less
Be the bitmap 🫡🟧9️⃣
