Branch, a black male, is believed to have a FELONY warrant out of Tennessee on unrelated charges, issued 8/21/2026 Which is likely why he opened fire at a state trooper on a traffic stop, but this is unconfirmed. Today our hearts are with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. 💔🥲 K9 Dundee died early Monday while assisting deputies in an apprehension in North Fort Myers. He was 4. He tracked a suspect into the woods with his handler, Deputy Julian Chala. After the arrest he collapsed. Deputies and medical staff tried to save him. The sheriff’s office said it appears to have been a medical event, not a gunshot or stab wound. A necropsy is pending. Dundee joined LCSO in February 2024. He was certified in patrol and narcotics, completed 174 deployments, and made 28 apprehensions. From all of us at Waddles & Wiggles: love to Deputy Chala, his family, and everyone who worked beside Dundee. Rest easy, Dundee. Thank you for your service. 🥲💔🐾

💙 🐾 LCSO MOURNS THE LOSS OF K9 DUNDEE 💙 🐾 It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of K9 Dundee, whose life was lost while assisting deputies during an apprehension in the 1st Precinct early this morning. Dundee joined the Lee County, Florida Sheriff's Office in February 2024 and faithfully served our agency and our community ever since. He was certified in both patrol and narcotics detection and, during his career, completed 174 deployments and was directly responsible for 28 apprehensions. Dundee was more than a K9, he was a member of our LCSO family. He ran toward danger without hesitation, trusting his handler and his brothers and sisters in this agency to be there beside him. Our hearts are with Deputy Chala, Dundee's handler and partner, his family, and every K9 handler who worked, trained, and stood beside Dundee. The bond between a handler and his K9 is one that few can truly understand, and the loss being felt today is immeasurable. Please keep Deputy Chala and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
