We usually welcome 2-3 cats and 2-4 dogs per night at our women’s shelter. Bethanie’s Room, is one of only a few places that allow pets to sleep with their human. It’s definitely extra work to keep supplies and litter available.

Levi handmade 42 leather belts for people experiencing homelessness. These incredibly useful gifts will be given out to Blanchet House guests. Levi thoughtfully made them in varying sizes. This began as an Eagle Scout project and he’s continued. Good luck at OSU!

This week, the city updated us on plans to close a 200-bed shelter down the street from Bethanie’s Room. Our shelter is at capacity most nights, with limited options for guests to move into housing. As more shelter beds disappear, we’re left asking where will people go?

69 women slept in our shelter, nearly filling our 75 beds just three months in. A woman 6 mths pregnant and another on her 2nd day of a new job stayed. They’re here because they can’t afford housing. With the 200-bed Northrup Shelter set to close June 30, the pressure is growing.

During each meal service, our restroom is open to guests thanks to volunteers like Santos. The restroom volunteer manages the line, offers hygiene supplies, and keeps the space tidy. Guests can also use restrooms, showers, and laundry at the city-run Oasis 2 blocks away.

The guys staying with us at Blanchet Farm learned how to catch and relocate a swarm of bees today. 🐝 🐝 🐝 Thanks to beekeeper Tom Bandy for coming out to the farm.
