Only exception to this trend nationally is Maharashtra.
Among Mahar's, 61.8% of the population is Buddhist and is the only scheduled caste community in India with a large Buddhist conversion.
Rest of the sub castes have really not converted to Buddhism.
Incidentally if you see the national census does not cover the population of Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims in its population.
It is this huge population which is undercounted.
Buddhist conversion is still far far lesser than conversion to Christianity and Islam.
In Karnataka, out of 1.2 crores Dalits, they found just 50000 Buddhists among scheduled castes.
