ALT 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟮, a team of three took on an incredible overland adventure, driving all the way from Dublin to Mongolia to raise funds for the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust [BMLT] and the Lotus Children’s Centre in Ulaanbaatar. There was no simple route to the finish line. This was a proper adventure, with the team making their way across thousands of kilometres towards Mongolia. One of the participants was 𝗖𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 [ 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣.𝙘𝙤𝙢/𝙞𝙣/𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 ], who records that the team completed the journey and had 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 €𝟳,𝟬𝟬𝟬 for BMLT and the Lotus Children’s Centre by the end of August 2012. 💙 · One car. · Three people. · Dublin to Mongolia. · And a journey that helped make a difference. Sinéad and Declan are taking on the Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026 in memory of their amazing Dad, who was supported by BMLT during his cancer treatment in Dublin. Coming from Donegal, their Dad was able to stay in one of our apartments beside St James’s Hospital while receiving treatment. Now, Sinéad and Declan are giving back by raising vital funds to help other families facing a similar journey. ALT In 2020, one of my best friend’s partners was diagnosed with leukaemia at just 30 years old. After months in hospital and intensive chemotherapy, he was given the all-clear. Five years later, just one week before reaching that milestone, the leukaemia returned. With two young children at home, he faced further chemotherapy and ultimately a bone marrow transplant. Watching our friends go through this journey opened my eyes to just how important the support of family, friends and charities can be. That’s why I’m proud to be running for the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust, a charity supporting patients and families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I was also delighted to help raise funds through the Stillorgan Players, who kindly supported BMLT through one of their shows earlier this year. 💙 Every donation, kind gesture and share makes a difference.

ALT Sharon is walking the @Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026 to raise vital funds for the Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust [BMLT] and she is certainly putting in the work! After a well-needed rest week, Sharon was back on the road this weekend, completing an incredible 24.88km in 3 hours 44 minutes. Her training journey hasn’t been without its challenges, sore hips and glutes, plenty of rain and even one “drowned rat” moment 😂🌧️ but she keeps showing up and pushing forward. 𝟮𝟲.𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲. Well done Sharon! We’re so proud to have you on #TeamBMLT! 👏💙

Triona will be remembered not only for the life she lived and the people she loved, but for the lives that will be touched because of the legacy her family has created in her name. ALT Davide’s dad battled leukaemia for 11 years. During that time, he went through chemotherapy and eventually a bone marrow transplant. Having watched him go through that journey and seeing the impact it had on him and on the family, Davide knows first-hand that a diagnosis like leukaemia affects far more than just the person who is ill. It can be an incredibly difficult and uncertain time for everyone involved. That experience is a big part of why Davide has chosen to take on this challenge. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻, and while he knows it won’t be easy, having such a personal connection to the cause gives him an even greater motivation to keep pushing through the tough days and challenging miles of training.

Pat Byrne from Westmeath was the second patient to ever receive it. Today, he stands as the longest-surviving patient out of 150 individuals who have benefited from this groundbreaking treatment. Medical milestones like this do not happen in a vacuum. They require immense funding, resources and community backing.
