Many may not realize this, but our family owns a corn maze near East Grand Forks. Our mission statement is: “To create generational memories while cultivating an appreciation for agriculture in a way that honors God.” We started this endeavor over 11 years ago with a desire to help educate people about agriculture and create something fun and economical for families. Eleven years ago, my wife and I, along with my siblings, all began having young families of our own and felt there was a need for this in our area. It takes a ton of money, sweat and even tears, but we enjoy seeing so many people come out and have a fun time with their family, friends, and loved ones. If you have not visited Valley Corn Maize, I’d encourage you to come check it out. We try to add something new each year so there is always something new for repeat guests. I'm going to drop them on Saturday morning now. Also, I want to buy some cows and not have to take out a loan to do that. We need to fill some stalls to improve cash flow, especially with beginning the official transition to organic later this year. I'm asking an awful lot here but last year's Christmas lotion run showed me that Twitter people are the best, most supportive small business patrons in the world. We ride at dawn on 9/12.

Here we have the lotion, the myth, the soon-to-be legend...Grain Dryer.Story time, kiddos. Gather round. It happened one day over on Twitter/X when I was teasing this year's fall drop and a farmer from Missouri named Kyle Samp @mocornfarmer said if I could make a lotion that smelled like corn going through a tower dryer during harvest he would actually start using lotion. I immediately got to thinking about how to make that happen. It's a very niche fragrance that's hard to explain unless you spend weeks on end surrounded by it every fall but it's warm and toasty and reminds you that the crop you worked hard on growing all year is finally coming in from the field. The roar of engines powering PTOs and augers rings in your ear as billions of kernels of corn come flying through and crashing against steel, and smoky diesel wafts through the night to be finished off with a nip of frosty air. I may just be a humble milkmaid now, but I spent a lot of time in a combine in the fall of 2013 (mostly with the operator, a former boyfriend). I have some fond memories from that harvest and I wanted this scent to do that time of year, that race against the calendar and Mother Nature, and that raw emotion and rush justice.
