500 km of range in 12 minutes: China's Svolt says its semi-solid EV battery is now in mass production. Semi-solid cells mix solid and liquid electrolyte, a nearer route to fast charging while all-solid-state is still far off, per Svolt. Svolt's figures; no car named yet. #EVs

Excavators with no one in the cab are doing paid work on US job sites. @BedrockRobotics just raised $600M at a $4.1B valuation, up from $1.75B in February. Why: mastering an excavator takes 5+ years, and skilled operators are retiring. Labor fix, or job threat? #Robotics

Intel is buying quantum software startup @ClassiqTech, for $2.3B per Calcalist: over 3x its 2025 valuation. Classiq's software designs quantum circuits for any hardware, like EDA tools did for chips. With @intel's spin-qubit chips, Intel gets a full stack. Worth it this early?

Intel didn't disclose the price; $2.3B (cash and stock) is Calcalist's report. CEO Lip-Bu Tan was an early Classiq investor and, per sources, stayed out of the talks. Deal expected to close in H1 2027. Sources: intc.com/news-events/press-r… calcalistech.com/ctechnews/a…

Anthropic lost $80.7B in six months. But $72.4B of it was an accounting charge, not cash out the door. @AnthropicAI's IPO filing, made public Monday, shows H1 2026 revenue of $16.3B, up from $1.16B a year earlier. Operating loss: just $693M. Can growth like that last?

Why the giant "loss"? Anthropic raised money through convertible notes that later turn into shares. As its valuation soared, those notes got more valuable, and accounting rules book that rise as a loss. Cash and short-term investments: $131.7B (30 Jun). Nasdaq ticker: ANT.

Since 3 Aug, Brent crude is up 39% and India's Nifty 50 is down 8%. Today the Nifty rose 0.68% to 22,753, ending a 4-day slide, as oil eased. India imports ~85% of its crude, so dear oil feeds inflation and weighs on the rupee. Relief rally, or does oil still rule? #Nifty

The KOSPI now trades on about 4x forward earnings, a level Bloomberg data hasn't shown in any of 18 major markets since 2006. @GoldmanSachs says memory stocks are pricing in a roughly 65% drop in 2027 earnings. So either investors see the AI memory cycle rolling over before the data does, or the market has priced in a bust that hasn't shown up yet. Which breaks first, the export boom or the discount? #KOSPI

The biggest simulation yet of the universe's first 2 billion years is here. Lumina tracks gas, dark matter and light in a cube ~1.5bn light-years wide, 100x+ the volume of past runs, and is the first to capture helium reionisation as it happened. @CenterForAstro @MIT #Astronomy

SoftBank's Masayoshi Son picked Malaysia for a $50B AI and data centre push, says PM @anwaribrahim. SoftBank hasn't confirmed it. The AI boom already shows in Malaysia's trade: September exports +54.5%, electronics and chips +69%. Can it move up from back-end chip work? #AI

AI has delivered "zero financial payoff" outside Big Tech so far, says @apolloglobal chief economist Torsten Slok. Revenue per worker and profit margins are rising at the Mag 7 but flat for the other 493 S&P 500 firms. Can this week's Big Tech earnings change that? #AI

The riskiest US junk bonds now yield 18%, the most since 2020. The junk market as a whole has barely flinched. CCC & lower yield: 17.99%, up 502 bp in six months CCC spread over Treasuries: 13.40%, widest since mid-2020 All high-yield spread: 3.40% BB spread: 2.10%

Two reasons this isn't a broad credit crack yet. CCCs are a small corner: under 10% of the junk index, a record-low 8.6% by J.P. Morgan's count. DoubleLine estimates telecom and media are ~15% of the CCC group but ~70% of this year's widening. Defaults are contained: S&P counted 7 global defaults in September, down from 11 in August.

The other side: CCC borrowers have the least room for error, and every refinancing now prices off a 10-year Treasury near 5%. A CCC spread above its 2022 peak (~12.9%) says lenders are getting picky. The tell would be single-B and BB spreads starting to follow. A few broken balance sheets, or the first rung of a wider credit turn? #Credit
