"We're gonna wanna win this game, maybe take a little bit of aggression from last year's playoff loss & use that momentum tonight." Kasperi Kapanen comments on the #Oilers facing the Ducks for the first time since their first-round playoff matchup. @Enterprise | #LetsGoOilers

Of note, the cap hit difference here (675K) brings the Oilers roster back under the cap even with all the LTIIR assignments. Unfortunately, they can't accrue yet as they aren't below the ACSL until someone else goes down with Dickinson's and one of RNH/Hyman's activations.
TRADE 🔄 The #Oilers have acquired forward Filip Hallander from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenceman Spencer Stastney.

Interesting. Not a right hand centre like most talked about. Turns the Jarry trade into Jarry and Hallinder for Skinner (UFA), Kulak (UFA), a 2nd round pick and 3rd round pick.

There's no chance this is true.

There's been separatist movements in Alberta for decades. The provincial conservatives panicked after losing a single election and bent the knee to them and the Wild Rose allowing them a platform. Redford and Prentice are way more responsible for this than Trudeau.
Pierre Poilievre: "Ten years ago, there were no referendums in any part of the country to separate. There was no separatist movement in Alberta whatsoever. The measure of the PM is how he can keep our country united. And as a future PM, my mission will be to truly unite the country."

But it's not realistic to truly evaluate a player until he hits 900 games.
Congrats on 800 games, Doc! 👏

4 of the core 7 forwards not available. In Babcock's words, "this is ridiculous". Anyway, there was a lot of talk about getting more players involved in key roles early this season. Certainly lots of opportunity for someone to improve their stock.
Hyman hurt didn't travel to Vancouver for tonight's game for the Oilers.

You have to grow and learn? Dude you are 31 years old with over 300 NHLgames of experience, not a fucking rookie
"You have to learn, you have to grow from every experience & that’s something that we will do tonight." Tristan Jarry speaks after the #Oilers drop a 6-5 overtime loss to the Canucks in the season opener. @Enterprise | #LetsGoOilers

Oilers hockey: Same as it ever was

Jarry 1 HD shot against. 1 goal. 7 Medium danger shot against. 3 goals against. Is that good?

lol. Jarry can’t find the one high danger save when his team scores 5.

So by my count the Oilers are now down to 3 centres in total, one of which is about to play his first ever professional game, and the Oilers intend to play 2 of them on the same line.

RNH out tonight. Maybe a two-week timeline.

So Poilievre says Canadians will have to pay taxes to “a government in Europe,” follow laws made by “European bureaucrats,” and accept European immigration policies if Canada becomes an EU associate member. Okay, Pierre. Which ones? Because “associate member” isn’t even an established EU status yet. The details are still to be negotiated. Will Canadians elect MEPs? No proposal for that. Will Canada get seats in the European Parliament? No proposal for that. Will Canadians pay European income tax? No proposal for that. Will Canada adopt EU free movement and immigration rules? Not established. Will European bureaucrats suddenly legislate Canadian law? Not how an international agreement works. And Norway isn't an EU member. Ukraine isn't an EU member. Australia isn't an EU member. So before we scare waitresses and welders about surrendering their sovereignty, perhaps explain the actual terms of the agreement. Because right now, Poilievre’s presenting hypothetical terms of an agreement that hasn't been negotiated as though they're established facts. Poilievre’s argument rests heavily on fear of what might happen, before the terms of Canada’s proposed EU associate membership have even been negotiated. History should make us cautious about that kind of certainty. Copernicus waited until the year of his death to publish his heliocentric work. Galileo was forced to recant his support for heliocentrism and spent his final years under house arrest. The authorities were certain they were defending the established order. They were wrong. The Earth was moving all along. And it was round. All along. And yes, the world was round all along, too. So perhaps before telling Canadians that European bureaucrats are coming for their taxes, laws and immigration system, we should first establish what the proposed relationship actually contains. Facts first. Fear second. That order matters. 🇨🇦🇪🇺 #cdnpoli

Hot Take on the 35th anniversary of Nevermnd and Use Your Illusion. Use Your Illusion was more responsible for killing hair metal than Nevemind because GNR was part of that genre but no one had the ability to compete with UYI’s elite song craft.
