It’s an economy. Most people pay taxes in multiple ways, including VAT on most goods and services. Guardian's Gaby Hinsliff has joined the unrelenting media onslaught on the pension triple lock. I have to say if anyone thinks a single young person will benefit from its abolition or that billions would then flow into social care I have a bridge to sell them.

A Guardian headline proclaims 'everyone knows we should break the pensions triple lock'. Given that it's the worst state pension in Europe, there's actually a case for doubling it.

Why is it always reported that attacks are carried out by “Iran-backed Houthis” but I never see the term “US-backed Israelis”?
