I just realized, Malfoid is the first yearning/tragic love story we've gotten (at least I've gotten) that doesn't end in doom and despair.
She kind of completes a triad of stories that have come out that each have a different angle on love found and lost.
First there was Monika in DDLC. (SPOILERS IN CASE YOU STILL NEED TO PLAY THIS)
Her love for the player and his world was pure, and she knew that everything else around her was fake. She fought tooth and nail to make it a reality, only for the player to turn her down.
Then there was Reze (AGAIN SPOILERS FOR CHAINSAW MAN STOP HERE)
When I watched Reze arc, I felt a hole punched in my heart as we saw Reze's love for Denji stopped by the world she was in. He loved her and waited for her, but circumstances *cough* Makima *cough* denied them from their happy ending.
Finally we have Malfoid, coming along out of nowhere, to finally complete the trio of stories where we get to see a long romance build between her and Harry. We know what's going to happen with the Death Eaters and Voldemort, and we know that for a time, her love for Harry is simply not 'allowed.'
What really caps everything off though is that we've gotten to see the happy ending. It's warm and in a way makes up for the other stories we've gotten where things are just prevented. Don't get me wrong, a good tragedy hits, but this has just been fulfilling.
