What would it mean to design technology with Dharma at its foundation?
At the 'Living Dharma Conference 2026', organised by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Sh. Raghava Krishna (Founder & CEO, Bṛhat) joined Sh. Raja Kanuri, Smt. Radhika Mittal, and Sh. Shyam Krishna Kumar for a thought-provoking discussion on “Aligning Technology with Dharma.”
The conversation brought forward three important considerations:
- Think in systems: Technology cannot be understood in isolation from human beings, nature, and the larger web of relationships in which it operates.
- Draw from Dharmic foundations: Dharmic principles offer valuable frameworks for navigating the complex ethical and systemic challenges emerging from technological advancement.
- Redefine what we optimise for: The ultimate measure of technological progress must be the well-being of all beings and the larger cosmos, rather than efficiency or advancement alone.
As technology increasingly shapes our collective future, the question is not merely what we can build, but what ought to guide its creation, application, and consequences.
A meaningful exploration of how Dharma can inform not just our relationship with technology, but the very foundations upon which we develop it.
