opinion time. I still enjoy playing retail but it’s painfully obvious it has become way too formulaic at this point and people are getting tired of it. I think they desperately need to change things up or we will continue seeing people leave due to burnout

Long potentially sappy yap incoming. You know, having worked on this game for last few years I have done a lot of playtesting my own content, internal alpha testing, team playtests, etc. I've probably "played" multiple thousand of hours of WoW: Forever at this point. Since beta launched, I'd been playing it as much as I could, but it was sporadic. I managed to reach 20 on two characters doing that, so it was not an insignificant amount of playtime. However, I often times interrupt myself to go send a slack msg, or fix a bug when I notice things while playing, and it usually turns into work in one way or another after a few hours. But yesterday, I just... played the game for a whole day in the beta. I'm talking 9 or 10 hours. Slack closed, off VPN. I just played. And it was a full day: - I got 4/5 pieces of the Fang set on my druid - Crafted a sweet leather helm for her - Finished leveling my forsaken pally to 20 - Finished up the last of my dungeon quests my warrior - I met a hilarious and very irreverent paladin tank who I ran Wailing Caverns 3 times in a row with to try and get him the cape from Verdan, and me the fang boots from Serpentis (Neither of us got what we wanted) - Did 2 dungeons with some guild members I haven't really spoken to or grouped with in 3 years or so It was a transformative experience for me. I think yesterday was when it is really starting to actually feel real. It wasn't Blizzcon and how crazy that was, the reception to beta, the podcast, or anything like that. It was just "no lifing" the game for 10 hours and wanting more at the end. Honestly, I got a little emotional. It hit me that the team really did it. I mean they DID IT. Yeah there's improvements and fixes to be made still, and there's feedback to act on (and stay tuned, we've got updates coming soon on some big feedback items). But all of that stuff aside, this is going to be a legendary launch, and the Forever team completely blew even my expectations out of the water. I look at each loving detail or small secret, knowing who exactly put that there and thinking how we couldn't have done this without that person. Then I think of the brilliant things that person added that haven't been found or aren't available yet, and I get almost giddy with excitement for them. I said a week or so ago that I thought we had something special here, and we do. I just can't believe the dumb luck that I get to be a part of this moment with such a once-in-a-lifetime team. It's wild. Anyway, rambly sunday morning post. Have fun and be good to each other!

So this is what electing a democratic socialist mayor can get you: corporations issuing groveling apologies for underpaying their workers
Since 2023, more than 200,000 Dashers in New York City were underpaid or paid late under the City’s delivery worker pay rules. These errors were unintentional, but that doesn’t make them acceptable. Dashers should be paid in full, on time, every time. We take full responsibility, and we’re deeply sorry. We’ve reached a $131.5 million settlement with the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. Every impacted Dasher will receive the amount they are owed, and they’ll be contacted directly with payment details. We understand the impact of even one missed or late payment. We’ve addressed the issues that caused these errors and made changes to prevent them from happening again. Read more here: about.doordash.com/en-us/new….
Community note
DoorDash spent $1 million in the 2025 NYC mayoral election against Zohran Mamdani, whose campaign included promises to investigate delivery/Rideshare services for underpaying/withholding wages. politico.com/news/2025/05/1…

@WarcraftDevs With the first reset looming, please allow taking an item from the GV to remove it from the bonus roll pool. Right now it’s better to take a coin and bonus roll an item you had in your GV than to take that item directly and risk duplicating it with a roll later.

This was published over the weekend with 12.1 looming. I feel like a broken record saying "it's so close except for one or two specific things" again, but I hope they commit just a little more time to cleaning up one of their better Midnight reworks. (also no 12.0 tuning pls)
Our Enhancement Shaman writer, Wordup, discusses the Patch 12.1 changes and how the overall spec is fun to play, but has some issues that have remained since the Midnight Beta. #Midnight #Warcraft wowhead.com/news/fun-to-play…

Weaknesses in classes in MMORPGS are not flaws. They are just as important as strengths in shaping their identity. Remove all weaknesses, and both the individual class and the entire class system become less unique and less interesting.

Always funny to see these videos pop up after WoW players discover @GuildWars2 and find out what true world immersion is. Great video. I do wish Blizzard would figure out the engine with having more than 100 people on screen. We got World Bosses now in 12.1 being put into their own instance cause they know the world lag is causes. So this is the band aid fix. Same with new zones in 12.0.7. GW2 just does world Immersion better. WoW has kind of become a home for the meta slave and gear hungry. Which frankly I am lol. So I still love to Mythic Raid, M+, Farm my ass off. But nothing compares to the constant barrage of events GW2 brings to the table at any second of the day. Currently I am trying to get the free legendary from achievements. This is like 12PM. And as I went from zone to zone. Just hundreds of people doing every event Meta or not. If I see a hard champion mob I start attacking it. And within like 1 minute 20 people show up. I am farming ore in Drizzlewood for achievement and bam like 200 people just roll past me for the start of meta event lol. You don't see that in WoW in outdoors. World content with immersion died pretty much pre Legion. And I am ok with that. But I wouldn't be mad if Blizzard did some sick updates to WoW to the current engine to support the amount of people we use to see on our screens during earlier expansion. Instead of now herding into portals to only be with 20-30 people
Why is WoW no longer immersive? Let's talk about it. youtu.be/R1h-Ggpye5Q

Passive heals need another nerf (they did a solid one in beta). Encounter design - to make damage less spikey - has moved towards rot dmg on every single fight in raiding. This drastically benefits high passive heal specs and makes those without look like shit (HPriest/Rsham/hpal). Can either buff up their respective heals so everyone is spewing out high volume, low quality heals or you can nerf them down so that direct healing has more weight

@WatcherDev @TheWindstalker Hello! Not sure where to put class feedback here but some feedback for Enhance Shaman: RNG Doom Winds (from talenting Ascendance) feels really bad gameplay wise. ‘Forced’ to not spend our resource at the end of pulls to avoid proccing it is rough

Doom Winds was nerfed on the PTR last week (100% chance to proc Windfury down to 50% increased chance) so maybe it’s time Ascendance could become a 1 minute cd for Enhance and the rng Doom Winds could get removed? Or doom winds could just be a button again as well, there is space

EllesmereUI's Biggest Patch since Raid Frames is live! Aug Evokers since Blizzard won't give you an active state on your CDM for Ebon Might, I decided to give you one. check out the video! This feature also allows trinkets/pots/racials to get custom active states Players who share profiles: you can now include your full spell layout (which spells go where) and per-spell settings for CDM when exporting profiles! ----------- Full patch notes with new features and bugfixes: **Profiles:** - **NEW:** Profile exports can now carry your entire Cooldown Manager setup - which spells sit on which bars plus every per-spell setting - for the specs you choose, so importing a profile recreates your CDM layout instantly. **CDM:** - **NEW:** Give any trinket, potion, racial, or custom spell an Active State that adds its own glow and color while active, plus a Cooldown State Effect that changes its look based on whether it's ready. - **NEW:** Sync your trinkets, potions, and racials across specs with one button so you only set them up once. - Sound pickers for Focus Cast Sound and per-buff Audio Effect now have a search box. - Pandemic glow's Apply to All now also syncs tracking bars and keeps the same glow style everywhere. - A trinket, potion, or racial already on another bar now auto-moves to the new bar instead of being grayed out. - A buff saved under two spell IDs now shows as a single icon in the buff bar preview. - Cooldowns you remove from Blizzard's Cooldown Manager now disappear from your previews, while trinkets, racials, and custom spells are kept. - Added tracking for the Nightborne racial (Arcane Pulse), which was missing from the racial list. **Tracking Bars:** - **NEW:** Grouped bars now pack together with no blank gaps, always filling the next available slot. - Eclipse (Solar) and Eclipse (Lunar) now each drive their own bar. - Switching specs while the page is open now refreshes the selected bar correctly. - Pandemic glow now fires for Lifebloom on you or a group member. **Resource Bars:** - **NEW:** A new GCD Bar fills over your global cooldown, with full control over size, position, color, and look. - Expand Power Bar if No Resource now also expands when the class resource is toggled off or disabled for the spec. - Fixed the threshold color not showing with Enhance 5 Bar Style. - The cast bar latency overlay now reads live latency, so spell queueing no longer stops it showing. **Raid Frames:** - **NEW:** New healer tools including heal-absorb text, a crowd-control glow on debuffs, and more ways to position and highlight dispellable debuffs. - The Auto Resize toggle is now a dropdown that scales Indicators & Auras and Tracked Buffs independently with frame size. - New Show Over Dispels toggle lifts the heal-absorb overlay above the dispel gradient. - Fixed custom (non-20-player) sizes loading at the wrong position after login. **Unit Frames:** - **NEW:** A non-tank threat border shadows your player frame when you pull or hold aggro, with Has Aggro and Close to Aggro colors. - **NEW:** Player health text gains Heal Absorb Amount and Heal Absorb Short options. - **NEW:** Mini frames and Boss frames gain a per-frame Bar Texture dropdown. - **NEW:** Boss frames gain a Hover Borders control with its own mouseover and target colors. - **NEW:** Independent Spacing X and Spacing Y sliders for buff and debuff icons. - **NEW:** Absorb and heal-absorb style dropdowns now include your installed SharedMedia textures (also on Raid Frames and Nameplates). - A new Hover Borders control lets you turn the mouseover highlight border on or off per frame. - New Show 2 for Boss option adds a second decimal to boss frame health text. - Buff and debuff Offset X/Y sliders now reach plus or minus 1500. - A new Cast Bar Position cog adds an Offset Y slider for the boss cast bar. - Player, target, and focus cast bars now show above other frames instead of behind them. - Cast bar timer text now has room so it no longer cuts off early. **Action Bars:** - **NEW:** A new When Not Dragonriding visibility mode hides a bar while skyriding and shows it the rest of the time. - The When Dragonriding option now also shows the bar in Druid Flight Form. - The stance bar now shows its GCD swipe even for spells that don't change form. - Bars are briefly forced visible while Myslot's window is open to stop a stall during import/export. **Minimap:** - **NEW:** Hovering the calendar button now shows your raid and dungeon lockouts with boss progress, server time, and time until the weekly reset. - The Omnium Folio button no longer goes missing or drifts after a loading screen, and its position and scale now persist. **Mythic+ Timer:** - **NEW:** A new Show Time Remaining toggle adds an MM:SS countdown to the +2/+3 threshold row that reddens as time runs out. - Fixed timer and detail text cutting off after a font swap. **Colors:** - **NEW:** A new Global Colors section lets you share one profile's custom colors across all profiles or give each profile its own. **Localization:** - **NEW:** Full Russian language support. **Auras, Buffs & Consumables:** - Warrior stance reminders now read the stance bar, so each spec is reminded of its correct stance and clears the moment it's active. - The Inky Black Potion reminder now clears after you drink the potion and reappears on cancel, expiry, or death. - The last-used flask, food, and weapon-enchant preference now saves correctly. **Nameplates:** - A new sync icon on the Pandemic Glow Style row applies the nameplate's pandemic glow to all CDM and tracking bars at once. **Chat:** - The Whisper Sound dropdown gained a search box. **Bags:** - Mythic Keystone dungeon abbreviations now split on hyphens (Nexus-Point Xenas shows as NPX) and handle localized names.
