At Jupiter Research Foundation, we are working to help quantify the number of #microplastics in our oceans by developing an autonomous marine microscope. It will sail the seven seas in our #WaveGlider and identify, sample, and count the plastics found at the ocean’s surface.
Quantifying the number of marine microplastics requires distinguishing between synthetic and biotic material. Check out these Polyethylene beads that we’ve been growing marine algae on to test ways of identifying plastics for our autonomous microscope! @LiquidRobotics@MBARI_News
