IMO, I love what Sean Payton has done for Denver. Culture, program, standard, all of it. One of my favorites
This is more about the offensive philosophy. The offense looks outdated
In a copycat league, Denver isn’t doing anything creative or new. The run game is as bad as it can get and there’s no creativity
The feature playmakers aren’t being used the way the great offenses use theirs. That distribution issue has been there since Payton got here. The real weapons don’t get featured the way they do around the league, that’s just a fact
You know when watching the great teams, that there best players are going to get the ball consistently. There’s no way that’s not the case with Waddle, which is one of the many examples in his tenure
And since the run game is literally nonexistent, the Broncos have to make it up with the quick passing game, which has now become way too predictable and dependent on
Nix has covered for a broken run game and a bad offense for a couple of seasons. Handing play-calling to Davis Webb was supposed to help with those problems when SP was calling the plays and it’s still not working with no stress on defenses by design
In a time where under center is back to being what makes offenses dynamic, Denver is trending in the opposite of that, and that’s just one example
The 49ers just showed what a modern, good offense looks like. We saw it with the Rams last week too. The best minds in the sport. It may have some old principles, but the creativity is there with the designs
Denver’s version doesn’t
Fix the identity/philosophy and the usage before the finger pointing at the QB
