EPP seems to act according to Mark Twain's famous quip: " When we had lost sight of our goal, we doubled our efforts."
Couldn't script it. In the week that Merz makes a quantum leap on China, some of his conservative stable mates push to scrap the EU's fledgling industrial policy entirely, because free trade

Just to be sure: Can you explain what you want to say with the sentence "6 million in the 20th century wasn't enough?" Are you really implying that Jews were responsible for the Shoa?
Replying to @bueti
Or the "right" to profit from murdering children. 6 million in the 20th century wasn't enough?

This statement is an attempt to paper over different opinions. But in no way does it mention the right of the state of Israel to defend its citizens against heinous terrorism. Nor does it mention the right of Israel to be recognized as the national homeland of the Jewish people.
I’m glad this has been said 👇

Remarkable shift in German industry thinking on China. From new BDI paper: “Even if de-risking entails costs, including in the form of counter-reactions, passivity would in the long term be economically considerably more costly & irresponsible from a security-policy perspective”

12 years ago today, my father, Ilham Tohti, was sentenced to life in prison for “separatism”—a charge that bears no resemblance to the work he dedicated his life to. My father is an Uyghur economist, scholar, writer, educator, husband, father, and believer. Above all, he was a man who devoted his life and his own resources to fostering dialogue, supporting his community, bridging divides, and helping people understand one another. He is not the criminal the Chinese government has portrayed him to be. A man who spent his life building bridges should never have been locked behind bars. For 12 years, our family has lived with his absence. For 9 years, we have had no family visit with him. Today, on the 12th anniversary of his life sentence, I once again call on the Chinese government: Release Ilham Tohti. Let my father come home. Let him read, write, think, teach, and love his family freely again! #FreeIlhamTohti

Replying to @miriam_vollmer

The Global Times has it wrong, as usual. We are not eager to "wage a trade war against China". We are, however, not willing to allow China to steal EU workers' jobs, Europe's industrial future or Europe's ability to determine its own international trajectory. It's this simple.
Global Times likely tells exactly how Beijing thinks: "If the EU is determined to wage a trade war against China, then let it try." "China should have been a strategic partner helping the EU resolve its problems, but it has mistakenly been treated as the problem itself. This is a major strategic miscalculation on the part of the EU." Brussels should hear this ⤴️ loud and clear: Beijing will not take any accountability for anything and will not change its behaviour or position. In China's eyes, the problems are solely Europe's, and Europe is incapable of solving them.

Radek Sikorski on AfD and German rearmament: Poland wants a democratic Germany playing strong role in security. "But we also remember all too well where a rearmed Germany in the hands of a far-right, pro-Russian party can lead - and that is precisely what the AfD represents"
