Hot take:
If you're building a product or service for the trades, you probably should learn enough about the trades to have an actual understanding of how things work inside the shop or business, or at least an understanding that they're generally more often than not fairly chaotic throughout the day.
Example. Every AI voice tool sucks. Because, generally speaking, maybe 1% of customers are calling calmly and planning ahead for service....
Most voice agents suck at handling and managing panicky, frustrated, confused customers who are in a panic about something going wrong at their house, property, etc. Almost every tool I see works well in ideal conditions and falls apart at the slightest bit of chaos.
Customers just want to know that you're going to take care of them, do a good job, and get their system back up and running, hopefully the same day at a reasonable rate. I don't think AI can do that quite yet. I'm hopeful one day it happens, and I'm sure it will, but for now, more often than not, you're better off having a human answer the phone, especially if your market dictates that.
