So this teen at a nearby school got mauled by a random pitbull that escaped its yard and the kid is walking with a cane but since the pitbull “never bit anyone before” it can’t be put down? Like why isn’t once enough? I love dogs but come on.

🚨 Pitbull escapa de casa y ataca a vecino en Azcapotzalco; hombre pierde un ojo Lorenzo Saucedo, de 65 años, se encontraba en la azotea de su domicilio en Azcapotzalco cuando un perro pitbull que había escapado de una vivienda llegó hasta el lugar y lo atacó. Nobody is surprised when a border collie tries to herd kids, when it tries to herd people, and other animals Nobody is surprised when a pointer, points. Nobody is surprised when a Labrador retriever, retrieves or a rat terrier finds and kills rats. Dogs are bred and have been bred for ages to be and act certain ways. Pitbulls were made to kill, to maim, to destroy and not let go. It’s not their fault obviously, they didn’t make the choice to be the way they are anymore than a border collie asked to herd sheep. It’s just what they were born and bred to do. We need to accept this, we need to understand this, and because of it we need to get rid of this breed of dog, both for their sake and ours. They are dangerous animals, and people who defend and keep them are no better.

No serious person would say a black bear is as dangerous as a grizzly bear, yet we have people trying to argue pit bulls can be just as safe as golden retrievers if only they're trained well.

Everyone knows pit bulls are a problem because even their biggest defenders say “it depends on the owner!” But a cocker spaniel doesn’t depend on the owner. It’s never going to kill your kid no matter how bad of an owner you are
