I've been working on a fun hobby project called Kai, with the goal of wrapping Nix in great and easy UX. Just trying to solve my own problems and now it's starting to be a useful prototype for some basic use cases. I'm trying to design it like @caddyserver to be modular/pluggable so that others can make their own extensions for things they want. If anyone other than me is interested in this idea, I'd love feedback on: 1) Why you don't like/use Nix 2) What things you like most about Nix and use daily 3) What things you like conceptually about Nix but don't use because it's too hard/confusing 4) What use cases you'd want to see supported For example, one of my original motivations for this was as friendly competition to DHH's @OmarchyLinux, and I'm avoiding the temptation to call it Nomarchy (Nix Omarchy ;) I loved the idea of a Hyprland setup with opinionated defaults, but the benefits of a version-controlled declarative portable file which can reproduce a complete operating system were too great to give up.
