CIP-56 is Canton's token standard. It defines a common set of rules for how tokens are created, transferred, and managed on
@CantonNetwork using Daml.
The core of it is a standardized transfer function that supports both simple bilateral transfers and atomic Delivery-versus-Payment settlement.
Because every CIP-56 token follows the same rules, wallets, custodians, and applications can all work with any CIP-56 asset without needing a custom integration for each one.
That's what lets Canton Coin, stablecoins, and tokenized real world assets all move through the same infrastructure and it's why Loop can support any CIP-56 asset out of the box, with no extra integration work.
