Friends, Archbishop Fulton Sheen is rightfully a great inspiration and model to many young evangelists.
It is worth noting, then, that Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s television ministry didn’t begin until he was in his fifties—after decades as a priest, teacher, writer, and student. I believe it was this extremely rich formation that made his public evangelical work so powerful.
Likewise, I encourage the new generation of Catholic creators to be patient—committing to study and prayer before getting in front of a microphone.

Fulton Sheen may have been the first great Catholic influencer.
Not in the cheap sense of chasing attention or cultivating a brand, but in the nobler sense: he converted attention into evangelization. He demonstrated that a microphone, a camera, a chalkboard, and a printing press could become instruments of grace.
Before Catholic media became an industry, Sheen mastered radio, television, books, and public speaking. Life Is Worth Living brought Catholic thought into millions of American homes. He wasn’t a comedian, movie star, or political celebrity. He was a bishop in a cape, standing before a chalkboard, speaking about God, the soul, freedom, sin, suffering, love, and eternity.
And America listened.
It would be profoundly fitting if Sheen became America’s first native-born male saint. The United States is one of history’s great communications superpowers. We export images, stories, slogans, distractions, and dreams to the world. How beautiful it would be if the first American-born man canonized by the Church were a communicator who used every available medium not to promote himself, but to proclaim Jesus Christ.
When Fulton Sheen accepted the Emmy Award for “Most Outstanding Television Personality” in 1953, he said in his remarks, “I wish to thank my four writers—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.”

In 1962, Padre Pio received a letter from a bishop asking him to pray for a special intention: a mother of four daughters, "now gravely ill with cancer and in danger of losing her life", who had survived five years in a Nazi concentration camp. The letter asked him to pray "that God, through the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin, may show His mercy to herself and her family."
After reading it, Padre Pio said to his companion, "Angelino, he can't be refused!" and assured the bishop that he would pray fervently.
The woman, Wanda Półtawska, was scheduled for an operation. It never happened. On the day she showed up, there was no tumor.
She hadn't prayed for her health. Only later did she learn that Padre Pio had prayed for her.
God is good.

Man what an exhausting list to sift through. If only there was one visible unified Christian church that was accessible almost anywhere in the world. Like a "universal" church you know? Ooh, and what if it went all the way back to the apostles? Man that would be amazing. Oh well

If you call yourself a Christian, then you are implicitly admitting that you are "sick," a sinner, someone in need of healing. Otherwise you would have "no need" of Christ.
Beware any "Christianity" that tells you you're okay just the way you are.

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen understood spiritual realities well, which is why he spoke and wrote so insightfully on the demonic.
Sheen especially hones in on the devil’s hatred of the cross, the Mass, and eucharistic adoration, the great fruit of the Mass.
For instance, Sheen credited the power of his priesthood to his daily holy hour before our eucharistic Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, a discipline he maintained for sixty-plus years. Whereas priests and laymen may doubt, Sheen notes, the devil does not, which is why his most infernal act is called the Black Mass. “A consecrated host is absolutely essential for a black Mass,” says Sheen:
"We may be lax in our devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, but Satan is not. Scripture tells us Satan believes [James 2:19]. Satan believes in God, in the divinity of Christ, in the Eucharist, in the Church, and yet believing, he would destroy. This is why we pray the holy hour."
