Maine Democratic Senate candidate Troy Jackson told CBS News' @Jerickaduncan he feels good about his chances with voters in Northern Maine, where he has a long political history. Jackson and Republican Sen. Susan Collins both grew up in Aroostook County, the state's northernmost county, which leans Republican. "I don't know that I'm going to win in that area, but, you know, I feel good," Jackson said. "People up there know that I've been fighting for them for a long time, and I'm an Aroostook County guy. You know, that's where I live and that's where my heart is."

President Trump says he thought tonight's rally in Florida would be his last one of the cycle: "I thought this was it. I thought I could relax. 28 days of this crap in a row is a lot. It's a lot. My voice is about- operating at about 49.2%. And then they called me in Iowa and they called me in Kansas, and they said, "Sir, would it be possible to do a little rally of about 50,000 people each?" And I said, "Does it matter?" They said, "We just want to make sure that we win."

On the criminal investigation into Alaska's Senate race, CBS News' @taureansmall asks U.S. Attorney for the District of Alaska Michael J. Heyman: "What's the actual crime being alleged here? And also we're less than four days out from the election, why hold this press conference and escalate this now?" Heyman: "We're not escalating anything, except to the extent that a new article came out. Right, this has been going on, you know, sort of quietly for several months with the intent not to escalate anything." cbsn.ws/4yTDaO5

My intrepid colleagues @JonahPKaplan and @WalkerDawsonCBS traveled thousands of miles to Petersburg, AK to try and find Dan J Sullivan. They knocked on his door but no one answered.
A candidate bearing nearly the same name as sitting Sen. Dan Sullivan has drawn scrutiny in Alaska's Senate race, as Republicans and the Trump administration raise the alarm bells over the possibility of confusing voters. @JonahPKaplan reports. cbsn.ws/4sy0dfB

Democrats maintain lead in bid for a House - on pace for 229 in our model... range could reach into the 230s -but Reps do have very narrow path to hold, too. That D lead has been durable but hasn't expanded either i.e., there isn't a growing wave, at least not as of today.

Asked Ohio Dem gov nominee Amy Acton today about this answer from President Trump. "The facts are: I was removed from custody from my mom. She was not well. From even a very young age, my brother and I experienced a lot of abuse and neglect, even before my stepfather. But my stepfather was not a good person, and it got worse then. He was indicted in a grand jury. He was a fugitive, and they left together." "I have not seen her since I was 12 years old in a courthouse. So this is a sad story."
President Trump hasn't changed his stance on a controversial ad used by Ohio GOP gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy featuring the mother of Democratic opponent Amy Acton, he told CBS News' @weijia on Friday. Despite reporters bringing up Acton's mother stayed with her stepfather after being charged with raping Acton as a child, Trump continued to defend the ad. "Her mother went on television and said that the daughter who is running for the governor of Ohio is a liar and a bad person, and that's all I know."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom responded Saturday to the Trump administration's decision to remove his ex-wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle, as U.S. ambassador to Greece, calling the situation "unfortunate." Speaking to CBS News' @JaredOchacher while campaigning for Democrats in New Hampshire, Newsom said he had not spoken to Guilfoyle in some time and wished her the best. Guilfoyle's removal comes amid allegations that she asked a Trump donor to pay off a substantial credit card bill in exchange for access to the administration. Guilfoyle has denied the allegations.
