Open operation looks different in the minimally invasive era.
Among 105,085 operations, conversions accounted for nearly half of open appendectomies and cholecystectomies. Conversion was associated with 147% and 116% longer operative times and 7.07 and 7.60 times higher odds of complication, respectively, vs minimally invasive surgery.

For the 2027 PFS,@CMSGov has proposed a 50% pay cut when procedures are performed the same day as an E/M. We looked at the data: 1,458 procedure codes would be affected across a broad range of specialties.
