Former Head Coach of Football at Northern Burlington and Holy Cross Former OC at Council Rock North and Rumson Fair Haven. Former President of the NJFCA.
Started coaching in 1969 and so blessed to be given an opportunity to continue coaching the game I love 57 years later. Passion is both internal and eternal! One of my formal players said to me I still have a lot to give. My response was I still have a lot to learn! Go Spartans!!
To all my former players and to all the coaches I’ve shared the sidelines with, wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Family, Friends, Food, Football. It’s a tough combination to beat!!!
Made my annual visit to a Tampa Bay Bucs OTA practice. Spent the day with safeties coach Nick Rapone who I have known for 40+ yrs. Grateful for the invite to visit an NFL practice and to continue to learn from one of the best in the game. Thanks Nick for a great day.
When you lose one of your former players you not only lose a piece of the history you had with him as a coach but you also lose a piece of yourself. RIP Mikey. I will miss you!
How lucky can one man be? 50+ years after playing, a lunch with my college DB Coach Wally Stets. He played at Arizona before coming to King’s. Learned so much from him as a player. We all have our reasons and inspirations that led us to coach. This man was an inspiration for me.
At Montclair state University to watch women’s soccer and met up with one of my former players at Northern Burlington Dave Field. His daughter and my granddaughter are roommates and play for Misericordia University. Always great seeing a former greyhound. It is a small world.
Tomorrow night, when the sun goes down and the lights go on we will take the field ready to give our best effort on each and every play. Last week’s game is history. We are only as good as our next game.
My first game as a coach was here at Northern Burlington in 1969. Ready and enthused to start a new season in 2022. Still feels fresh and exciting. Let’s go Greyhounds!
Spent a long time teaching/coaching at a school that serves a military base.It taught me to not only appreciate the dedication of our military members but also their families. It is far from an easy life for them.Thank you for the sacrifices you make.
Had a great day at Bucs OTA’s today. Thanks to Clyde Christensen,QB coach & Nick Rapone, safeties coach for taking time to spend time with me. Hard to believe it’s 40 years since we first met. One of the beauties of this profession is that the learning and the sharing never ends.
Notes from a 1993 clinic at University of Miami. So much has changed since then but so many of the basic fundamentals apply and without them no scheme is going to work.
It’s game day!The one day when family, teachers, students,
friends, community members gather to cheer on our athletes. Football as much as anything else brings people together and mixes race and culture like nothing else.Wishing the best to all my coaching colleagues tonight.
Today’s scrimmage was another opportunity to find out where we are and where we need to be. Work hard to get better at the things you do well. Work harder to get better at what you don’t do well. Thank you Seneca for hosting us today and their boosters for the meal.
Thank you Holy Cross and Burlington Twp for a great scrimmage today. It provides us with an opportunity to find out what we do well and what we need to do to get better. As a coach I get to see what I coached and what I failed to coach. Always looking to get better at what I do.
Thank you Northern Burlington Booster Parents for the BBQ lunch today. Serving a hungry football team is no small task. We are all very grateful for the support you bring to the program.
The older I get the more I appreciate the opportunities given to me. Thank you Northern Burlington for allowing me to continue doing what I love most to do:coach the game of football and the young athletes that play this great game!
After unexpected delays finally starting the journey home for season #53. Can’t wait to get back on the field with coaches and players. Let’s go Greyhounds!
Wherever I coached I quickly learned that one of the greatest assets to our program were the Moms of our players. To all of you Moms out there here’s hoping you have a great Mother’s Day.
Second knee replacement in the span of 6 weeks. Grinding out another rehab and prepping for season #53. Someone once told me “passion” is internal and eternal. Coaching football is one of my greatest passions. I will be ready! Let’s go Greyhounds!
Top Fuel driver and former Northern Burlington wide receiver Antron Brown finished first yesterday in Atlanta proving once again Greyhounds go fast. Congrats Antron.
Often when I am prepping for the coming season I come across something from the past that can fit nicely into the present. This is the “Dash” Series from a Washington Redskin 1985 playbook.
Right knee surgery done and left one coming up in 6 weeks. I don’t care how much pain I have and I don’t care how much therapy I need to do, there is no way I will miss coaching this upcoming football season.
