The dark side of sobriety…
Nobody warns you about this part.
They tell you how beautiful life gets.
They tell you how proud they are of you.
They tell you how inspiring your journey is.
But they don’t tell you about the nights where your body shakes for something it used to need just to feel normal.
They don’t tell you about the friendships you lose because your “fun” no longer looks like their “fun.”
They don’t tell you about how lonely it feels to sit in a room full of people and realize no one really understands what you’re fighting for.
They don’t tell you how grief hits harder when you can’t numb it anymore.
Or how you’ll start to notice all the damage you did, and there’s no substance left to hide behind while you face it.
Sobriety doesn’t magically fix everything.
Some days you feel emptier than when you were drinking.
Some days you wonder if it’s even worth it.
Some days you miss the chaos because, at least, it was familiar.
But here’s the truth:
Sobriety isn’t supposed to feel perfect.
It’s supposed to feel real.
And real isn’t always pretty.
It’s heavy. It’s raw. It’s uncomfortable.
But it’s also healing.
It’s also freedom.
And it’s worth surviving the dark days for.
If you’re there • in the dark part • keep going.
You’re not alone. And this darkness won’t last forever.
