I hate to say it, but @dhh is right. Bought a Beelink ($800) instead of M4 Pro Max ($5000). 96 fucking GB of Ram, 2TB of SSD. 2.5M lines of code builds in 61 seconds. and now I can't go back. Really great job to the @OmarchyLinux team.
Alright @dhh, let’s see what you’ve been cooking with @OmarchyLinux

1. The absolute gall 2. Nice to read about a time before DeBeers when diamonds were properly priced

I love that the lesson from these incidents was not to stop. It was just to get a body guard 😂

Imagine how ruthless you have to be for someone even in that era to say this about you.

I hope to believe in anything as much as Cooke believed in Duluth 😂

Benghazi cost four American lives at a single compound, and Congress gave it ten investigations and two years of televised fury. Beirut in 1983 produced a commission within weeks, and Pearl Harbor had its inquiry inside eleven days. That is how a serious country treats a military disaster. This week the Pentagon's own inspector general confirmed that Iran has damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings at American bases in eight countries, along with dozens of aircraft. Neither Vietnam, Iraq nor Afghanistan ever saw the American footprint across a whole region hammered at once, and the public only learned of it because soldiers leaked photographs while Hegseth shrugged about the occasional "squirter." General Caine warned before the first bomb fell that stockpiles and defences were not ready. Hegseth, a former television host, has since fired or blocked more than eighty generals and admirals, so the war is being run with the adults removed from the building. When a Republican congressman filed eight articles of impeachment this week, the Speaker sent the House home early rather than allow a vote. zerohedge.com/geopolitical/u…

You’re in the railroad business when your more capitalized competitor lowers rates to $1/train car. What do you do?

The correct answer is to recognize an unwinnable situation and rightfully exit the railroad business. Congrats, you’re a cattle transporter now! If you got this, you just might be a financial genius 😏

Maybe my favorite example of lexical elaboration. Eskimos have 50 words for snow, the English have 50 different ways to say bankrupt 😂

There was a time when every railroad was minting money at unbelievable rates. Investors found out the hard way that who ran the railroad ended up mattering a great deal in the long run. I’m sure there is no lesson to be learned from this 🙃

I’m shocked that markets in the 1800s could react within minutes like this! The telegraph is clearly underrated.

In fact, here is famous loser John D Rockefeller advocating for more regulation. Can’t imagine why though.
Speaking as head of the Center for Study of Public Choice, the capture story for an AI pause doesn't fit. Reg capture is what you attempt when you're losing. Anthropic is about to have the biggest IPO in history. Winners don't lobby for regulation.

So“rightly or wrongly” really meant rightly here 😂 Thoroughly enjoying this, well done @gregsteinmetz

Imagine how great Napoleon had to have been for a regional American newspaper with no incentive to flatter to print “Napoleonic genius” WHILE HE’S STILL ALIVE!
