A Call to Action for Young Men - Alexandria Kline, President of the Charlevoix County Club America Activism Hub
The following is a speech given by the Activism Hub's President 1 year ago, at a memorial service following Charlie Kirk's assassination:
Hello, I’m Alexandria Collette Kline. I’m a homeschool student here in East Jordan. As the Vice-President of the East Jordan Turning USA Activism Hub (now the Charlevoix County Club America Activism Hub), I will be speaking to you today to honor Charlie Kirk. Interestingly, I just joined a few weeks ago. I had never heard of Charlie Kirk until my Mom told me he got shot. I’ve watched a bunch of his videos since.
Right off the bat, I saw that this guy loved to debate. He encouraged people to question him. He enthusiastically asked people to “change his mind”. I know that I would have loved talking to him and to have a teacher listen to me like him to learn from.
There are a lot of reasons why he captured the hearts of so many in my generation. He didn’t act like he was smarter or better than any of us. He didn’t beat us upside the head with the bible. He treated us like equals and reached out to us at our level. He didn’t care about the labels that had been put on us, or how many people in authority abused their power and threw us away. With us in his heart, he established a place where we can learn the Truth about Jesus and how He would want us to take care of our country and defend her.
This reminds me a lot of how Jesus came for the outcasts and Thomas who are overlooked and tossed out like trash. There are perks in this world who are in my generation who are misunderstood and have been mistreated by people in positions of power. They were ignored and silenced, so they faded into the background, becoming invisible. Jesus used Charlie Kirk to say , “ I see you! Come with me, let’s talk! This world hates you, pal. So you might as well follow me and give them a good reason to.”
While sometimes Mr. Kirk got assertive and unapologetically angry, it was only when somebody became extremely rude and inappropriate disregarding that there were small children around. Mr. Kirk was not shy. He stood up for those who could not dry themselves like Jesus did when he went to Hell and made a mockery of the enemy for you and me.
I want a man like Charlie Kirk was one day. A man who is smart enough to learn the truth and bold enough to speak and defend it. A man who is brave enough to lay his life down for it. A man who will supply his wife’s needs, hold dear his children, and be invited in their lives. I want this so I don’t have to raise kids who wonder if their daddy really loves them. I want a man who’s loyal and devoted to God and honest to his country.
That gun shot was an alarm sounding to all of you up men. You are all the “Charlie Kirks” of our generation. Don’t wait for somebody else to take his place. That’s why God made you. Don’t be cowards! Show them you’re not ashamed of the growl! Stand up for what’s right! Now that Charlie Kirk is gone, we need you now more than ever! Get bold and fight with the sword of truth! Become so dangerous that a bullet won’t stop you, it will just force the ones you inspire to take your place. Please do not let his life have been in vain! For Charlie… be Christ!!!
