Or that they know they can’t get anything of significance done to help working Americans and lower costs? 🎯 🎯 🎯

I thought he couldn’t get lower than trying to rename the Kennedy Center. Now, Trump has his sights set on Ford’s Theatre? What is this obsession with trying to overshadow assassinated presidents? It’s absurd—and would defile a historic site. Is the supposed “Party of Lincoln” going to stand for this?

ICE shot Alex Pretti in the back. A few days ago, they shot Wilber Rafael Garces Perez in the back. Wilber remains in custody with the bullet still lodged near his spine. DHS is still trying to deport him. ALL of these shootings demand full, independent investigations. Justice for Johan. Alex. Renée. Ruben. Lorenzo. Wilber. And the countless others whose lives have been destroyed by ICE—while their families were left to pick up the pieces.

This is the President of the United States casually threatening to "annihilate" another country in front of the entire UN General Assembly. What he’s saying would constitute war crimes. And this man has the nuclear codes. It’s astounding how hellbent he is on violating domestic and international law practically every time he opens his mouth. American foreign policy cannot revolve around destabilizing global peace and stability, the world economy, and our role as the leader of the free world. Horrifying.

And Trump wants to make this fence *permanent*! Worst of all, the renovations (which actually look very nice) were stolen from NPS entrance fees. A public park, renovated with public money—and off limits to the public. Ridiculous.

How many times does Donald Trump have to be told? The Kennedy Center is a living memorial to JFK. Trump’s name belongs NOWHERE near it. Today, a federal judge ruled (yet again!): His name must stay off. Mere hours after the ruling, his hand-picked board voted to close the Center indefinitely. No one argues there are not repairs and renovations that need to be done. But let me be clear: What Trump is now saying (publicly, no less) is patently ILLEGAL. Congress appropriated $256 million for repairs. Trump is now refusing to use that money as directed, holding this once great cultural institution hostage unless he gets his way. It is beyond the pale. What he’s done to Kennedy Center is a disgrace to JFK’s memory and legacy. And Republicans in Congress are complicit.

This is flagrantly illegal and pathetically desperate. What he’s proposing would cost ~$1.3 TRILLION—which would explode the deficit and almost certainly worsen inflation. Notice how he’s not even trying to hide his illegal scheme? He is flaunting it, because he knows Republicans will let him get away with it. Secretary Bunch has guided the Smithsonian through a period of unprecedented political interference while remaining committed to scholarship, expertise, and the public trust. Under his leadership, the Smithsonian continued to do what it does best: tell America’s story truthfully and completely—the good and the bad, the tragic and triumphant. I am deeply grateful for Secretary Bunch’s service and wish him well in his next chapter. His departure comes at a consequential moment for this treasured American institution. As Ranking Member of the subcommittee that oversees the Smithsonian, I will continue fighting to ensure the institution has the resources, expertise, and curatorial independence necessary to fulfill its mission free from White House interference. The Smithsonian belongs to the American people, and no president has the right to erase, soften, or rewrite our history.
