Grew products used by billions (@Meta | @Google | Kuaishou). Now building AI that helps people grow.

AI is getting very good at doing things for us. But once our time is freed—then what? I’m betting the biggest promise of AI isn’t replacing human experience. It’s helping us learn, act, and grow. That’s the question behind atula.ai—and why I left big tech to build it.

So agree! AI should complement and empower the way we live, rather than replace human experiences
The goal of building any technology, AI included, should be bettering human lives and society.

OpenAI’s six new misalignment reports make one thing clear: evals can’t end at launch. For agent products, monitoring real-world actions has to be part of the product, not a separate checklist. openai.com/index/model-misal…

Building agent in iMessage made me realize how much a progress bar in traditional applications communicates. In messages, we can let users express what they want in ordinary language, but we still owe them boundaries, status, and a useful response when something fails. Our learnings and design decisions behind this: atula.ai/builder-notes/anato…

Comparing the cheapest image models from GPT and Gemini for creating lecture slides. With the same input and prompts, GPT Image 2.5 clearly wins at 10% of the price, if you can accept the 3-10× slower speed.

The best personal AI should help you compare perspectives, notice contradictions, and decide what fits your own life
Beware the student of one teacher. A good idea spirals into dogma when it gets applied to everything and stretched beyond the areas where it is useful. Remain open and embrace a lot of teachers.

AI in schools is becoming a debate between “ban it” and “give every child a tutor.” Kids and teens will make their own choices.

The next generation of AI products will be judged less by how much they extend intelligence, and more by whether they help us become who we want to be.
"We built a technology that extends our intellect, but nothing to extend our soul."

GPT-6 makes delegation feel much more real. Now, the next question facing any AI product is how to deliver the best-in-class service within each vertical.

Meanwhile, we still get pulled over for using a phone while on FSD 🤔

Maybe universities will become much more research-centric, as AI can take on personalized instruction and coaching.
⚡️There is going to be a brutal repricing of education. A four-year degree at enormous cost makes much less sense when knowledge itself becomes abundant. The university system will be forced to justify what the credential buys beyond information transfer. Elite networks, regulated credentials, laboratories, medicine, physical training, genuine apprenticeship, those survive better. Paying $150,000 to receive lectures and prove basic cognitive competence gets harder to defend when an AI tutor is better, personalized, available constantly, and nearly free.
