Cardinals knock off Snow in Utah (Post sponsored by Tinsley Title and Holt Wrecker Service) TVCC spent the first quarter Saturday night digging itself a hole. Then the Cardinals climbed back out. After falling behind Snow College 11-0 in Ephraim, Utah, No. 7 Trinity Valley scored 19 unanswered points in the second quarter and went on to beat the Badgers 39-30. The win was TVCC’s third straight and the Cardinals improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in SWJCFC play. It also looked a lot like the growth coach Sherard Poteete wanted to see. Before the trip, Poteete said he was proud of the way his team had responded since Week 1 and wanted to see the Cardinals keep building. “Let’s go see if we can have some growth this week again and just keep stacking days,” Poteete said. Jackson LaTour once again led the offense. The TVCC quarterback completed 23 of 40 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. He also added 19 yards on the ground. Malick Djikalou provided the biggest play in the passing game, catching two passes for 108 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown. K.J. Madison caught seven passes for 66 yards and a touchdown, while Dillon Tallie had a 31-yard touchdown reception. The Cardinals finished with 96 rushing yards, led by Jalahn Campiti with 29 yards on seven carries. TVCC also found points outside the offense. Xavier Mayfield returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown, giving the Cardinals a defensive score for the second straight week after JaMari Stewart’s pick-six against Tyler. Special teams produced an even stranger score. After a bobbled snap disrupted a Snow field-goal attempt, Whitney Fuller picked up the short kick and returned it 87 yards for a touchdown. The Cardinals will be on the road again next week, traveling to Corsicana to take on Navarro at 3 p.m. (Stats via TVCC Sports)
