Did he mention getting a lot of NIL cash from Mark Cuban? Nothing against Indiana, they are the playing the game the way it is setup now and doing it brilliantly. Before NIL this would never of happened.

His roster has a lot of guys who were lower level and no star guys. There are a lot of teams with 4 and 5 stars that didn’t make the playoffs. They don’t have a strong culture like what Cig has built.

Especially like the part starting at 43 seconds “Every play’s got a life and a history of its own”

He's spot on. And listen to Lanning. Same. But Indiana is an amazing story. They've been building for a few years and he rocketed the process... where Lanning inherited the reigns of a long 30 year process. Listen to the doers... not the downers. Great share.

Also, he recognizes talent. He was a recruiter for Saban.

Sounds just like Saban. And he's right.

Cignetti’s "greatness" is ultimately rooted in his refusal to accept the status quo. As he told Joel Klatt in 2025, he felt he had to "shake things up" and project an almost "abrasive" confidence because the program he inherited was "dead" and needed a leader who wasn't afraid of the "big boys" in the Big Ten. “Google me”

I agree that Curt is great. However, I’ve heard almost every football coach say things similar to this. Curt has just been able to execute it better than most.

Pretty obvious that he was a Nick Saban assistant. The Saban coaching tree is everywhere in these playoffs

Not many "leaders" want to hear this sadly since it's boring and not cool and not immediate...and some "coaches" are giving in to these kids' idea of culture that isn't based on progressing to success!

💯 Saban speech. YouTube Saban leadership speech and you hear the exact same thing just in a nutshell from Cig. "The Process" is alive and well. Roll Tide

Yes. Lots of wisdom in that clip. Expectations. Standards. Accountability. Do your best every moment. Do that consistently.

All very true. However the code Cignetti has cracked is to play a roster full of RS Jr’s & graduate transfer Sr’s. In the past 2 seasons he’s has had no more than 5 players start that are true jr’s or younger. He is coaching very mature teams which helps his methods work.

What he’s saying has been said before, but the tone of how he’s saying it is what brings this speech to another level. Guy’s whole essence screams “leader of men”.

All verbatim Nick Saban creed’s for success……easy to spot the Saban tree. All very true. What I’ve seen most change as CFB fan since ‘89, is the cult of personality and confidence of the HC. Team’s play to HC’s personality. Cig = supreme confidence, IU plays same.

while these are just words, if it's how one actually operates rather than just talks it means something and is at least one key to his team's successes

Listening to this won’t help. Need to put yourself into years of uncomfortable situations, fearless when it comes to looking like a fool with the goal of gaining new information and continue to gather actionable feedback to build your own leadership framework. Be unique.
