My personal bookmarking/pinboard/readwise/instapaper replacement is coming along nicely. I wrote an MVP with agents in about 2 hours from a spec doc I've been working on for months, on and off. Spent an additional 4 hours just on little tweaks here and there. 🤫 - Saves bookmarks, duh - Saves local copies of article using go-readability/v2 and bluemonday, which are working great. - Bookmarklet with popup to save ala Pinboard, for now. - RSS and APIs throughout - Uses an average of only ~13 MB memory on the server (Go + htmx4)

After updating to macOS Golden Gate, if the Siri “blob” popping up everywhere gets annoying, here’s a workaround to disable it: System Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy → Content & Privacy (enable it) → Siri → Writing Assistance (disable it)

My Xymon replacement is starting to feel like a real network monitoring system. - Dramatically less compute than Xymon - HTTP/S, LDAP/S, TLS, ICMP, SSH, DNS, and basic API checks working - Detailed diagnostics without drowning the main view - Live data below, details munged Built mostly with help from a bunch of $20 AI coding accounts. I think it may finally be time for the big boy plan. The backend already collects considerably more than I'm showing here. The next problem is figuring out how to expose those pieces elegantly, but I have ideas.

I let @ChatGPT walk me through replacing a proprietary Honeywell thermostat system with an @Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced that I got for free from @nwnatural That meant: • bypassing the Honeywell EIM 💀 • rewiring the furnace control board • reconnecting the outdoor condenser • testing every stage (heat, A/C, fan) I labeled everything and double-checked every step before making changes, but ChatGPT never led me astray. The actual wiring and installation process took 20 minutes. The system is now fully operational. 💪 I’ve been wanting to do this for YEARS. Today, AI made a project that felt well beyond my comfort zone approachable. AMA. Photos below. I did a temp job with some butt connectors, but have some proper Wago 221 connectors arriving Wednesday.

Changing "Workflow receives current" to "files or folders" makes it work with a right-click. But there is currently a bug on macOS 27 that causes that right-click Services menu not to show up all the time. :-/

I'm not really a Windows guy, but one think I miss on macOS is right-clicking in an Explorer window and selecting New Text File. So, I made the next best thing on macOS with Automator and Finder Services. Finder->Services->New Text File AppleScript: gist.github.com/codejake/3aa…
