🚨 Breaking: Your iPhone could soon run actual PC games without jailbreaking. 🎮
A new open-source tool called "PlayPort" has appeared on GitHub, reportedly allowing users to run games from Steam, GOG and Epic Games directly on iOS with a developer account.
And the early results are pretty wild.
On an iPhone 17 Pro, the developer reportedly got:
🎮 "The Witcher 3" running at 720p and 30 FPS
⚔️ "Kingdom Come: Deliverance" running at 720p and 30 FPS
🌀 "Portal 2" running at higher resolutions and 60 FPS
💀 "Hollow Knight" running at higher resolutions and 60 FPS
Getting PC games to work natively on iOS wasn't simple. The project reportedly required more than 200 patches to improve compatibility and performance.
The developer also claims that graphics and audio work correctly, with support for game controllers and Steam Cloud saves.
This isn't cloud gaming or simply streaming a PC screen to your phone. The goal is to run the games locally on the iPhone itself.
There are still compatibility and performance limitations, and results will depend on the game and device.
But the idea of carrying parts of your PC gaming library in your pocket, without jailbreaking your iPhone, is seriously interesting.
